I find this one quite good for the few times I’ve used it with an ice axe.

Re: Bidein a Choire Sheasgaich and Lurg Mhor

I did these two a few weeks ago from Attadale, there is a lot of hydro work in the estate at the moment but the plus side to the track being upgraded is , although not great to look at, it allows pretty decent going on a bike all the way to the bothy once you reach the high point in the track. Oh n...

Re: Dogs Ring of Steal

Hi, I took my border collie around the ring of steall, she is very comfortable scrambling, not keen swimming but managed across the river no problem, it wasn't that bad when we did it. We took plenty water with us but weather was not great so it wasn't a big problem that day. My friend left his lab ...

Re: Don't be fooled by the size of the cairns!

Hi Yorjick,

Nice report and pics.
Glad you enjoyed your day, I am the man with the dog you met, apologies for disappearing like that, I had intended to wait at the summit but, as you said, the wind was very cold so I had keep moving.

Re: Ben Challum - EPIC

Yes Ryan, I was parked in the lay-by at Kirkton Farm, Black Audi estate. I saw about ten other folk the route I took, although it would have been easy to miss someone further up as like you say, visibility was atrocious. Not sure I could have kept going with a knee injury, considered turning about a...

Re: Ben Challum - EPIC

Was up Ben Challum myself yesterday, I went via Kirkton Farm, conditions were tough that way also. Navigation was a nightmare higher up right enough, I found it a quite tough day so its kind off reassuring that I wasn't the only one.

Re: Bridges - flood damage

According to Angus Country Parks FB page the Bachnagairn foot bridge up the Moulzie track past the Moulzie Cottage has been completely washed away and are advising there is no access to Bachnagairn. This was posted a week ago and said they were in the process of checking other footbridges in the Gle...

Re: Lost Ice Axe

Thanks Scott, not to sure how on earth I have managed this but I cant remember if I collected it at Bob Scotts, I never even realised I never had it as we didn't make it as far as the hutchy, the snow was knee to waist deep, we weren't making good time and Hamish was really struggling so decided to ...

Lost Ice Axe

It would appear that my Ice axe has fallen off my pack somewhere between Bob Scotts bothy and the Linn of Dee car park. Its a silver one, I think its climbing technology brand, if anyone comes across it please get in touch so I can arrange something.

Re: CMD Arete

Thanks guys, thats what I was hoping to hear.

Thanks for the pic electricfly, your dogs are gorgeous.

My dog has accompanied me on every Munro I have done except Nevis up the tourist path and would have hated to leave her again, plus I think she is better at scrambling than me to be honest!

CMD Arete

We are planning on heading up the Ben tomorrow via the CMD arete and I am looking for advice as to whether my dog would be ok? She has done a few other ridges including the Tarmachan ridge, the Ring of Steall and the Forcan ridge but these all had walk reports where a dog was present, I can't seem t...

Re: Mullardoch Boat?

A friend and I used the boat a few weeks ago, think the guy does a few runs depending on demand, it cost £20 per head with a minimum of 3 people or £30 a head if there is only 2.

The Saddle

This is the first report I have submited for a while mainly due to the fact that I have been working away from home a lot and finding the time just to go walking is hard enough never mind time for a report, however I have a spare hour so thought I would do a quick report after a great day out in Gle...

Re: Stepping up! Advice sought.

Was up yesterday, no snow until about 1000m but after that it was pretty slippy and I used my crampons and most of our group had ice grips which were useful. It was very busy though, I reckon there must have been close to 2000 people and dont think hardly any body else had either crampons or ice gri...
