Beinn Eighe

We left this a bit late in the day as it took far longer to get to Torridon from Shiel Bridge than expected, but managed it just about, in a gale. $matches[2] Climbing Beinn Eighe.jpg Spidean Coire nan Clach summit.jpg Ridge from Spidean Coire nan Clach.jpg Looking west from Spidean Coire nan Clach....

A' Ghlas-bheinn

So after our longer than planned walk the day before we opted for a more 'relaxed' walk out to this remote loner. our_route.gpx A good path out it a bit dull to start with but once it turns more easterly great views of the two mountains can be seen. The walk in 1.jpg The walk in 2.jpg Heading up the...

Sgurr Na Sgine and The Saddle

Day 2: probably not the way to do Sgurr na Sgine. $matches[2] So we headed up the well worn path to the corrie below Sgurr na Sgine, and then decided to take the slightly more elongated route up to marked on the may to the belach between Creag nan Damh and Sgurr a' Bhac Chaolais, then follow the wal...

The first walking day of out normal late/Sept/early Oct mountain walking trip. Re: Sgorr Dhearg and Sgorr Dhonuill (and a question)

I did wonder, it seemed such an obvious decent. But with no obvious mentions in other posts/guides I assumed it was a no go

Ben Lawers five and what not to do

$matches[2] What not to do? Use the Cicerone walking Munros guide that what. Start at the Ben Lawers visitors centre, which we could not find. Turns out it was demolished. Anyway cant blame the book for that, everything becomes out of date given enough time......but theres so much more! After a nic...

Ben Vane

A wet and windy day. The only half sensible ascent was Ben Vane. As it happened we walked up in the lea of the weather, but on the top could barely stand up.

Wet and windy in the west so headed east for better conditions and a simple walk up Maell Chuiach.

Sgorr Dhearg and Sgorr Dhonuill (and a question)

our_route.gpx The weather looked good, although windy, for day 2 of our walking week, so we headed up to the end of Glen Coe for the two Sgorrs where the winds were forecast lighter. Various route descriptions lead us to believe this might be a bit of a boggy/navigational pain but we thought we'd g...

Creag Meagaidh circuit

Simple starting route for us this year (this time without Jasper who died in March :( The 3 Munros of Creag Meagaidh. our_route.gpx All very simple, but the very tops had just the lightest dusting of snow and the wind was bitter. Cloud blew in and out, mainly in when on the tops but in the east we c...

Ben Vorlich & Stuc a'Chroin

our_route.gpx A surprisingly nice pair of Munros for our last days walking. With good/reasonable paths to the top of Ben Vorlich. Ben Vorlich.jpg Good wind-chill again on the summits. And the weather gave some impressive and moody views. And yet more Victorian iron work fencing remains lead the way...

Ben Chonzie - away from the wet west

our_route.gpx we did this lone Munro as where we were based the weather forecast was shocking, but in the east it was better. Having looked at the map now, the far more interesting (but far longer and more arduous) route would have been from the Loch Turrent dam on the SE side. This barely felt lik...

Cairn Gorm (Glen Lyon) Circuit

our_route.gpx Another misty, wet start with a slow slog up to Cairn Gorm. A top we didn't really get to appreciate until half way around the circuit. Cairn Gorm (left).jpg Cairn Gorm summit.jpg Fallen Trig.jpg A simple decent took us out of the mist and Maell Garbh was soon reached, following the o...
