Re: Kinpurney Hill - Fields of Fire and a John Burgess sight

Hi Graeme, Yes, that was me indeed you spotted - I got the message on Sunday, a shame I missed you :( Kinpurney Hill is one of my favourite walks locally and often ends with a pint or two in the MacDonald Arms - not just my local but also my next door neighbours  Do drop in if you are passing. ...

Re: Dancing on ice with the old lady

Names and dates were scattered all over the hut ranging back to as far as 1938 - John B? Surely not! Have some respect for your elders, youth  I doubt if the hut was even there last time I was up that way  As ever a highly entertaining report. Interesting to hear what the three of ...

Re: Glas Maol and Creag Leacach (22-01-2010)

Hi Milesy, An interesting report, thanks. We must have been very near you at the Snow gates - we were stopped on the road coming out from the Spittle. I was tempted out for a days skiing by a friend who convinced me it would make a nice change from wading through soft snow - it did  We admired ...

Re: Balkello Hill and Auchterhouse Hill

Great reports all round - thanks :D I only started exploring the Sidlaws 3 years back when I moved North of Perth - they are a grand wee set of hills. Maybe if I have grandchildren in the future I'll have the excuse to enjoy that extreme sledging. Until then I'd better get on with exploring the stan...

Re: The Brutal Bagging of Blath Bhalg

The book described it as “ideal for a short afternoon or an evening leg-stretcher”. The hill that is, not the pub! From my memories of days and evenings with Andy it could have referred to either  An entertaining report but I can't help but feel you've missed a trick with Lucy. Can't you train...

Re: Ben Ledi

A lovely report, Seamus, thanks. Went up Ben Ledi on New Years Eve in time for sunset and moonrise!! I was on the other side of Loch Lubnaig earlier on New Years Eve and, unfortunately, had 'less than ideal' conditions conditions on the top of Beinn Each. I must have seen the nice weather you were e...

Re: New years eve eve on Mount Battock

Ah lovely :)

I knew it was out there somewhere :o

I mistimed my day - ended up in a blizzard up the top of Beinn Each above Loch Lubnaig only to see lots of wonderfully clear peaks (like yours!) on the drive back.

Thanks for the report, superb photos :D

All the best,

John

Re: Ben Venue from Loch Ard

Nice report - thanks. One of the hills I really keep meaning to get up. I was planning heading into that area today (Beinn Each and Stuc a Chroin from Loch Lubnaig) but woke to several inches of snow and the A9 closed near Dunblane. Spent the morning digging the driveway clear instead :( Mind you I ...

Small hills for the shortest day - the Mealls of Amulree

To be honest I almost didn’t venture out – what a waste that would have been! I was supposed to be heading to Ben Vrackie with a friend but he rang early to say that he’d been unwell during the night and couldn’t make it. The weather didn’t look that great so I got on with a few jobs around home unt...

Re: The Cape Wrath trail part 3 Glendhu Bothy to Cape Wrath

Just finished reading these great accounts of what must have been a marvellous experience. Brought back lots of memories - especially the weather early on. I once did a trek through the highlands: 3 dry days out of 21  Thanks for taking the time to put the reports together. Loved them! All the ...

Re: The pensioners return to the beautiful island.

I'm envious. I once took the family cycling around the island but have never had the chance to do any walking there.
Lovely report, thanks!

All the best,

Re: Life in the Freezer - Glen Dessarry episode three.

LOL to the frozen bike! Hilarious! Could have been nasty though... never thought of a pedal bike freezing up! Fantastic report and photos again... I'm literally itching to get at those, especially since reading your reports... unfortunately, I think it will be May as I'm fully booked up till ...
