Re: Very over grown

Thats a shame, I did this walk in March/April and it was lovely, no overgrown bits at all and quite a good path as far as I remember, we did it Crieff to Muthill or Mut Hill as my friend called it

Re: New kingshouse prices

Oh thats good to know about Trekkers Lodge! Glad they haven't done away with it, that will explain why we couldn't book it for May. Agree the wee bunkhouse was special, had a few memorable weekends there. :D :D

Re: New kingshouse prices

Or the Saddle Mountain hostel at Invergarry, just half an hours drive from Glen Shiel. Not sure the Kintail Lodge still has the Trekkers accommodation, I know the wee Bunkhouse is gone :-(

Re: New kingshouse prices

Not just the Kingshouse that have upped there prices, had a look at the new Cluanie Inn website, rooms available from July onwards, a whopping £204-240 for a room for the night?? Now owned by Mars Hospitality group based in Mumbai. Not even a bunkhouse to stay :(

Re: Clegs.

Just back from Glenmore and Clegs and midges were rife, feet and ankles are a mess, very aggressive this year, a downside to the good weather. Thank goodness I was in the hostel and not camping!

The Wee Bunkhouse and Trekkers Lodge, Kintail

Stayed in the wee bunkhouse at the weekend and heard that the new owners are planning to extend the hotel and turn the Trekkers lodge into staff accommodation and that the wee bunkhouse is possibly being turned into a café for coach parties?! Anyone have any other info on this? Be sad to see them go!

Re: Two day walk in cairngorms - with public transport

Would also suggest the Minigaig, from Blair Atholl to Kingussie. Or if you can manage 3 days Blair Atholl to Kincraig by Glen Tilt then Glen Feshie.

Re: Culra Bothy, and Aonach Beag (Alder) by bike and foot !

Great trip report, I agree that climbing those hills gives a sense of remoteness (I never saw a soul), the Lancet Edge looks pretty cool for scrambling. I did these the week before you also in scorchio weather! I have a very similar photo from the walk out of the tree by the river. :D

Re: West Highland Way - General Questions

I did the WHW in late April last year and the bothy was busy with people using it as a drinking den according to some people I met so I would avoid if you want a decent nights sleep. Visit the Drovers for a look but in my opinion it is overpriced for food and drink. Best meal I had (and cheapest by ...
