Re: Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers - my first solo Munros!

Great first report - very inspiring to hear about your solo adventure!! Well done! Wow, there I was checking the latest Scotland walk reports and the last thing I expected to see was one of mine pop up :D Thank you very much! I've done a few more solo Munros since then, some good some bad. Ben Chon...

Re: Four Munros on a stunning March day!

Don't know whether it's just me, but I'm not seeing the pics - just the links to Flickr. I can only get to the pics if I click on the links.... AK Hi, thanks for this, hopefully it is sorted now?! First time I've just Flickr & I'm not very techi so struggled getting it right. Spent a couple of ...

Four Munros on a stunning March day!

It's been 4 and a half years since my last WH report, when I reached my 10th Munro, Ben Vane. Progress on the hills has been slow over the years since, with life (moving to the Scottish Borders, getting married, changing jobs...!) getting in the way. I have written about every Munro adventure on my ...

Re: Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas

Thank you, nervy one, though I think you will be getting more assured now, judging by number you've managed. Yes, conditions look similar to what you got. Enjoyed your report too. Can sense your emotion and know that feeling too. Maybe catch you somewhere out there. Happy hiking and a Merry Christm...

Re: Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas

Loved reading this report JimboJim! Brought back memories of a very similar day I had on these hills last year (http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25255) - looked like it might clear, then got stuck in a cloud, by the time I was down it was starting to shift! looking back i...

Re: Funny road signs

I've always liked this one from the Carbrae above Eilean Donan Castle:

And then there's this one from Aysgarth Falls:

And finally, good old Stow:

Ben Vane - Munro number ten!

Hooray, I have reached double figures!! After my solo jaunts on Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers back in September, I was keen to be accompanied on my next Munro - I feel that I need to build up my confidence a bit before going out alone again! I've stuck to straightforward Munros so far, and made good us...

Re: Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers - my first solo Munros!

Well done! I am still to do a Munro, let alone one alone, but I think about it a lot and I totally understand why you'd be worried, I would be too! I do solo low-level walking but going up high still scares me a little. That's definitely an inspiring report, I need to get out there and finally do o...

Great for doing your first solo Munros...it can be great fun!! And you will meet a lot of lovely other people as well :D Thanks Mountainlove (love your name!) - the support on the hills that day really gave me such a boost! Great effort, well done! There's no stopping you now! Thanks...

Re: Prow'd to make it up #40! Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin

Great report!! Great to see what these hills look like - did them both 2 weeks ago but couldn't see much at all from the summits. Really struggled with the scramble up Stuc A'Chroin and the boggy descent but you've made it seem easy :) Congrats on #40!

Re: Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers - my first solo Munros!

Yippee well done A-A, not only your first solo munro but a double two  Nothing wrong with tagging along with other walkers, I've done it loads of times and unless they run ahead and shout abuse at me, I always assume I'm welcome   Thanks Polly! Much appreciated. I can definitely see...

Re: Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers - my first solo Munros!

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely comments - that, as well as the friendliness I encountered today on the hills - really make me appreciate what a wonderful sense of community walking brings, and how lucky I feel to be a part of it! I found my first solo walk a bit disconcerting to begin wi...

Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers - my first solo Munros!

My first solo Munros - but also my first ever Walkhighlands report! I've been a member for a year and have been using this fabulous resource for route descriptions, maps and also advice from other member's posts. I have been admiring the Walkhighlands community from afar and now have finally got rou...
