Re: What bike do I need?

I would agree with the suggestions of an eMTB also. (How do you know someone has an eMTB? They tell you!). And if the money stretches to a set of Jones H bar handlebars, all the better - I find them much easier on the wrists than straight handlebars. Having said all that, whichever bike you choose, ...

Re: Beinn na Lap, Corrour Station, & Aurora Borealis

Fantastic photos - well done!
As a fellow SMD Lunar Solo owner, I'm glad to see the limits in which it can be used, again well done!

Re: Dunkerron Mtns, SW Ireland

Great to see a report on the hills of Southern Ireland. It’s been a long time since the last ones which were probably mine. Haven’t done the hills you mention but must admit I had a great time when I was over there. Got to say your pictures are pretty damn nice 😊 . Thanks Jim for your kind words. Y...

North Cluanie 5, bike'n'hike from the East

I climbed these over two days in May 2021, using my eMTB to access the hills using well established tracks. Day 1: The first day's statistics are: 8.5 km and 230m ascent by bike from Glen Affric car park to a gate in a deer fence around GPS 57.2318, -5.1026. 17km on the bike in total. $matches[2] Af...

Dunkerron Mtns, SW Ireland

A 2 day walk and camp in the Dunkerron Mountains in Kerry, SW Ireland. Although the route itself just about reaches the 600m contour, the terrain is extremely rough and great care is required. Also, as there are no paths or tracks once up in the hills, it's essential to be able to navigate with ease...

Beinn Bhuidhe, bike and hike from the west.

I'll start off by saying that you would really, really want to like off road cycling to do this route! I wanted to find a different route up Beinn Bhuidhe from the usual one and, if possible, make a loop walk. Combining this with some eMTB cycling and this route - on the map - seemed ideal. However....

Gaor Bheinn from Gleann Suileag

This report is short as there are many other - and better - reports on climbing Gaor Bheinn. I'm always interested in loop walks where possible rather than an 'out and back' walks and this, combined with me buying an eMTB from my retirement lump sum 2 years ago, helps me to consider alternative rout...

Thanks, jmarkb, I see there is a new edition of this book due out around now. Thanks for that.

Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe Kintail

Hello,
I'm thinking of climbing Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe from Gleann Lichd / Glenlicht House. I wonder if anyone has climbed it's NE ridge, one arm of Am Fuar-tholl? It appears to be a fine scramble, starting around 600m?

Re: Landslide near Loch Quoich dam update.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if there are restrictions on using an inflatable dinghy with a small outboard engine (3hp) on Loch Quoich? I'm thinking of a 3-4 mile trip to the foot of Sgurr na Ciche N ridge. I don't have the stamina for paddling there and back (old age!)
