Over (x4) and out... see you on the other side!

Fi Priestley's last ever trip (and report)... :wtf: While I've meticulously kept my WH blog up-to-date with entries for every one of my walks since my first Munro in Sept 2011 (also the day I joined WH), I've not actually written a trip report for the public forum in almost a year  This is p...

WH meet - plan B Corbett

Walkhighlands meet day 1 We set off for Cairngorm with Kaiserstein, aiming to climb Pigmy Ridge and Afterthought Arete.. but when we got up to the stretcher box in Corrie an t-Sneachda we could hardly see a few steps in front of us, let alone the wall of rock we should have been facing :? The wind h...

Loch Ericht pair - great cycling!

Long cycle in from Loch Rannoch but on a good track, great day out - straight up and down SaAM with views over to Ben Alder, then cycled back down the track a bit to go for a longer walk over rough/peat hag ground to BM. Even found a short rock section to scramble up  Nice view over to Scheihal...

Beinn Dearg 4

Great day in the sunshine this time with Dean 8) On our last time on this circuit we'd camped out and then walked in starting early. This time we were setting off from the car around 8am and cycled in to the end of the forest. On the walk in we were still (almost) toying with adding the corbett to t...

Cruachan horseshoe

Met up with Munroman Graham, JP and Josef. Did the round from the Cruachan Dam this time, and on a lovely clear day 8) Hadn't even noticed the 'slabby bit' when we did this in the clag before, but this time we climbed up them :D The others headed back down after the Munro pair but Scoob and I carrie...

An Teallach pinnacles!

Weaselmaster & Sick Kid compleat in style  4 of us on this trip, soon turned to rain and we were in the clag on top, but enjoyed going right over the pinnacles anyway  :D Scoob was struggling a little with early signs of a chest infection so we bailed after the 2 Munros and headed b...

Glenfinnan triple - big day!

Didn't think this would take quite as long, so we set off at a reasonable time instead of heading off in the middle of the night  and were walking not much before 11am. Took in an extra top before SCa'C as we wanted more chances of scrambling and ridges :D Clag came in by the time we got to...

Sgurr a'Hoor triple with Macleans

Big walk over big hills (break from Corbetts! ) but what a grand day out 8) :D Followed same route as I'd done last time (from Scoob's report) but corrected the start on the hill by crossing the second wire bridge and not the first  That meant we were over the river and heading...

Arkle and Horn - a braw pair :)

First thought about doing these 2 along with Foinaven, but very glad we'd done that the day before and in splitting sunshine too 8) Clouds rolling past in the corries for this one, but summits clear. Nice ridge on Arkle, with cool 'stepping stones' along the way (big gaps in the rock, but easlily st...

Fascinating Foinaven

Up at silly o'clock  to head north before the traffic built up, then started cycling around 10.30am from a parking area just above Gullane House to the NW of the hill. An edurance test for me  but finally made it to the start of our walk to take in a horseshoe up to the summit then back...

Skye adventure :)

Packed up camp at Uig then set off on this round - shorter than the first one we'd planned, taking in the red cuillin ridge too  Fantastic day as it was - sunshine, fab views, scrambles, a golden eagle flew close by as we got to Belig summit, then more scrambles... straight down off of Marsco...

Harris in a day!

Having camped at Uig, we caught the 0530 ferry to Tarbert   then cycled up the road to its highest point. Took a direct line up to the summit, which was in clag :o then back down the same way. We had time to spare so carried on touring for a bit more sightseeing on the bikes before get...
