Re: Stay Home --> Stay Local
That's all well and good, but the thing you linked also states "Requirement to close places of worship in a level 4 area to members of the public". We all know that not to be the case Yes, the heading is still there but paragraph 1A below (which required them to close) was taken out last ...

Re: When can we visit Scotland again?
As far as I can understand it, the present expectation is that both self-catering and hotels will open from April 26th. Is that correct? This is from the Govt's timetable: Assuming the data allows it, we expect a more significant reopening of the economy and society from 26 April. This will likely ...

Re: When can we visit Scotland again?
Good point, I haven't read the full strategic framework but the new variable levels system will use WHO indicators instead of the range that was used last year. These are much tighter. who table.png https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-strategic-framework-update-february-2021/pages...

Re: Stay Home --> Stay Local
I think it's the case that we are not specifically banned from going into England, just from leaving Scotland. So when we can leave our LA area we can travel into England. There's a separate part of the law covering the 'common travel area' ie England, Wales, Ireland etc, if this doesn't change on ...

Current law is here, should be updated with future amendments so worth checking as 26 April approaches.

Re: Stay Home --> Stay Local
The current law allowing exercise/recreation starting & ending at a point within 5 miles of your LA area still applies. Nothing is set in stone, but the plan from 26 April would be: travel within all of mainland Scotland permitted (subject to other restrictions that remain in place) https://www....

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines
On the Local Area + 5 miles thing, it is permissible to travel (in a vehicle) up to 5 miles outside your local authority area to reach the start point for outdoor exercise or recreation that begins and ends in the same place They added the word 'recreation' in January (ie after putting all of the S...

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines
Actually, the post above has the reasonable excuse for entering a Level 4 area, which is exercise and not recreation. For leaving a Level 4 area, it's: (t)undertake exercise or recreation— (i)outdoors, (ii)that starts and ends at the same place, which place must be— (aa)in the local government area ...

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines
I recommend people read the law itself, it's a short paragraph and it makes clear what is and isn't restricted. This is a reasonable excuse for leaving a Level 4 area: (t)exercise outdoors, provided that the exercise— (i)is not organised, and (ii)starts and ends at the same place, which place must b...

Exercise and recreation are reasonable excuses, can you find a definition of recreation that would exclude camping?

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines
Infection rate for last year: low during the summer months when beaches, beauty spots and popular hills were busy then sharply increasing in the colder months as people spent more time indoors and spiking at Christmas when multiple households were allowed to meet up. There appears to be an inverse r...

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines
There is, as yet, no case law. However, wild camping isn't really in the spirit of the regulations. The recreation bit was presumably intended to allow parents to take their children to the park, and to allow people to sit on a bench and drink their coffee. The purpose of the law is to reduce the i...
