Re: Ben More and no more - compleation on Mull

Diolch Dave, as they say on Britain's Got Talent: it's been a journey. That's a lot of miles walked and driven together over those years. During which time we sometimes spoke to each other. When we did speak it was usually about kit you'd forgotten to bring/buy/find/return. Your dietary habits, low ...

A wellie good idea

Once more it was matching diaries that dictated when Dave and I should attack this outlying Munro rather than a reasonable weather forecast. With storms Ciara and Dennis still lingering an all too familiar Amber weather warning greeted us in Crianlarich YHA Friday evening. It made for a restless nig...

Inverie to Barrisdale via Luinne Bheinn and Meall Bhuidhe

Dave and I had been looking forward to this trip into Kintail for a long time. So I was chuffed the weather gods were smiling on us as we stood waiting at the Harbourside in Mallaig. After a beautifully smooth boat trip to Inverie my enthusiasm for this two day round trip peeked even more on seeing ...

Ladhar Bheinn from Barrisdale bothy

This walk was the second part our Knoydart adventure, having walked out to Barrisdale bothy the day before via Meall Buidhe and Luinne Bheinn from Inverie. After a really ropy sleep in the bothy due to a) squeaky new Thermarest Neo air b) other peoples snoring c) my own snoring. A nice steady 1 hr w...

Re: Autumn trip Day 4 - Carn a' Chlamain by bike

What about the gunshot like explosion from your bursting rear tyre on the return journey? And for that to happen in such close proximity to the rifle range! We both did well to not foul our walking pants  It would be bad form for me to suggest the tyre malfunction was due to the weight bearin...

Re: Autumn trip Day 1 - Wet and windy on Gulvain

You're selling yourself short on the map Snowdonia7, the summit was beyond what you've got marked up. I have to agree it was one of the moistest walks we've done.

Shrouded Schiehallion

Today was to be a big day in that Mrs MG and Tango the dog were to crack their first Scottish Munro. North Wales mountains had been done time and again as Team Munrogimps, but this was a significant first north of the border. The Met Office sold us the day as: IMG_1300.jpg But the view from the cott...

Fashion disaster on Vrackie.

A pleasant walk with 3 lads from Castlebrae, Auchterarder: Kenny 1, Kenny 2 (both PSNI) Stevie (Scotland). From car park north of Moulin a very nice walk through woodland onto the moors which gently climbs to small reservoir. IMG_0651.jpg Here we had a quick drink a bit to eat and a kit check before...

Corbett cherry popped x2

our_route.gpx A wee walk to stretch the legs and lungs in preparation for an assault on the great Schiehallion tomorrow. Mrs MG and Tango the dog were along too for their first 'bagging' expedition. It was only a very short walk from the week's holiday cottage to the jump off point on a clear and c...

Re: Around Aber (with sheep rescue)

It's a good job you're not so fit that you had no energy left to look after the fleecy one with some 'special attention' Dave.

Re: Moel Eilio Loop

As the young people say S7: "I'm well jel". Are you getting twitchy about the next Jockland trip and think you'll be dragged round by me again??

Re: Spring break - day 2 (over-indulging)

I didn't notice you taking all those photos! You should have ditched the camera for your water bottle - muppet. Once again though some stunning views. You forgot to mention the Golden Eagle sighting on the top of Glas Bheinn Mhor and secondly the bloody generator used by the other group at the camp ...

Re: Views on the Berwyns

Thanks Chris but the photos were only taken on my mobile phone and I had to compress them even further to allow them to load. I'm not technically savvy so much of the beauty of the walk has been lost. Not quite in the league of your pictures but the main mission was accomplished: get the Mrs out on ...
