Re: Pregnant and still walking?

Thanks everyone (I think - placenta eating - really? ha ha  ) Think I will go for it, pick a close by hill, take it nice and slow and see what happens.

My biggest problem is probably going to be finding walking gear that fits!

Pregnant and still walking?

Hi Ok so this may be a bit of a 'taboo' subject for some but I guess I am just looking for opinions and everyone is entitled to their opinion! I'm 5 months pregnant and have a serious case of itchy feet - I had some good plans to get a lot of walking done this year but falling pregnant has blown a h...

Re: Which GPS? Back up only!

I had picked up a spare battery charger for my iPhone 4 from a festival I was at but unfortunately it doesn't fit my iPhone 5 - they changed the size of the outlet thing :(

Re: Which GPS? Back up only!

Thanks everyone - I've used view ranger on my phone before just to see how it goes but it really killed the battery and had my partner in a panic when he then couldn't get hold of me! He was just leaving the house to head up the a9 when I pulled up - needless to say a long lecture followed :( I'm he...

Re: Which GPS? Back up only!

It would be one with map detail - from what I gather anything less is more for geo-caching.

Which GPS? Back up only!

I have been humming and ha-ing about a GPS for a while now and have decided I may get one in the sales. Problem is I'm not 100% sure what one to get and prefer recommendations. I tried asking who turned out to be a manager in Go Outdoors but he just kept saying 'I don't really know much about these'...

Man, woman wild - where in Scotland?

Hi - I'm watching man, woman wild ( ) but can't work out where it was filmed - obviously it's the Scottish highlands one. I've tried googling it but no luck so far.

Does anyone recognise the hills?

Re: 3rd attempt and now a 'bump' but success!

Thanks everyone - I put 3-4 hours down as it was about 3 and a half but looks like the report just took the first number!

And no no - not THAT kind of bump - just a bump in the car

Hopefully getting out again soon

3rd attempt and now a 'bump' but success!

I started hillwalking on new years day 2010 with the first one being schiehallion - valentines day that year was spent on what we thought was Ben Lawers. As I have been gradually getting out more it dawned on me that alas we did not get to the top of Ben Lawers - sad times. So to correct this I went...

Re: Do you get blisters on your hands from walking poles?

I used to get blisters until I started using the poles in the way described above but I occasionally wear my cycling gloves which are padded.

Re: Hillwalking warning over smartphones after Cairngorms re

As a relatively newish walker - and most recently a walker who either goes alone or with my children - I have to say I now ALWAYS take a map and compass (i hasten to add i have only ever once forgotten my map) and i refer to this first but I do also check view ranger on my iPhone for my own piece of...

Advice needed

Hi all I am looking for some guidance on a route I am hoping to complete. I want to go up Beinn Glas and Ben Lawers (have done this previously but in a group and heavy snow) but I want to continue on to An Stuc, Meall Garbh and Meall Greigh this time. I've read a lot of the reports but because I wil...

Re: WHW advice/recommendations anyone?

The Loch Lomond stretch and wild camping is something I most certainly am aware of - our intention is to get to that area mentioned just past Inversnaid - a long hike we know but we have a back up plan should that not come about. It's great to see the places we are looking at stopping at being recom...

WHW advice/recommendations anyone?

Hi I have plans to backpack the whw starting Monday morning - heading up the night before to ensure an early start. It will be myself and my partner and our 2 year old lab. We are considering 5 days but to be honest are pretty open to it taking longer if need be - especially if it's as hot as it is ...
