Re: Question about tents Scarp1 and Enan

Carbon poles with a solid inner, to cut out drafts. 8) I've never bothered with a footprint tbh.

Re: Question about tents Scarp1 and Enan

No experience of the Enan, but I've got both the Scarp 1 and the Ultra version, the latter is really noisy in high winds due to the strengh of the Ultra TNT material, I would only get the Ultra if you intend on camping in strong winds above 30mph a lot! The regular Scarp is a fine tent and is a capa...

Re: From Fort William to Kinlochleven via Glen Nevis

No need to cross the Mamores! Follow Glen Nevis up over the watershed to Meanach and then an easy track down to Kinlochleven. The upper parts of Glen Nevis and across the watershed don't have much of a path and can be boggy, but there's nothing technically difficult. Could be done in a day, but dep...

Re: New Alcohol Stove Kickstarter

I believe Gary makes his own windshields for Speedster Stoves, whereas Stripey has sourced a company to laser cut the two parts to make up the cone. This comes at a cost, with a kickstarter he can put in a large order. Also, since Norman sadly passed away I do not believe anyone in the UK makes a co...

New Alcohol Stove Kickstarter

Hi folks, some of you may be aware of Stripey Hat Guy on YouTube? He’s designed a new alcohol stove, similar to the late Stormin Norman’s set up. I know he has spent a lot of time, in designing this and sourcing a company to laser cut the cones. He’s set up a Kickstarter, which goes live soon and yo...

Re: Recommendation for app that matches location to hike rou

If you simply want a route to follow, then the Walkhighlands app is excellent. If you want something a bit more advanced with tracking etc, then I'm getting on really well with the Hiiker app. 8) The Pro+ plan is a bit expensive at circa £40 a year. OS Maps app was my second favourite, I didn't get ...

Re: Ladhar Bhienn from Inverie

Vince25200 wrote:Hello. I was thinking of doing Sgurr Coire Chonnichean from Inverie and then follow the ridge until Lhaddar Bheinn. Can you confirm it is definitly doable and there’s a path all the way between the 2 hills?
Thanks 👍🏻

It’s definitely doable, as for a path? From memory, not the whole way around.

Re: Your favourite golden eagle encounters

For me they are are the ultimate Highland species I concur, and ironically my favourite/best goldie sighting was near A'Mhaighdean. We were traversing the rarely frequented ridge of Beinn Tharsuinn Chaol when I startled a goldie a mere 5-10 metres away. Watched it fly away towards Beinn lair. Later...

Re: Ben alder parking

As an alternative, cycling in from the north (Laggan side) is a really nice approach and a bit more interesting than the Dallwhinnie approach imho. Layby on the east bound side near Inverpattick Lodge.

Re: Interesting, but will it ever happen

Could become the most expensive section of road in Scotland? From memory the current record holder is the short section of A9 at Killiecrankie?

Re: Ladhar Bhienn from Inverie

It's a fine circuit. We did the route in a clockwise direct, doing Ladhar Bhienn first, I remember some mild scrambling coming off Ladhar Bhienn, towards Bealach Coire Dhorrcail. We had the dog with us and she managed fine. The walk along Aonach Sgoilte was grand but we stayed on the ridge and added...
