Kintail 19th-21st Dec

A wee group of us heading to the trekkers' lodge at Kintail this coming w/e. Think we all have different walks in mind for the Saturday & Sunday. However I'm planning on the Brother's Ridge on the Saturday having been beaten by the horrendous cornices last winter. So if anyone fancies joining me...

Re: Fionn Bheinn access

Made the same error years ago. However it did mean we got a chance to have an amicable route discussion with a stalking party. We had a very helpful estate worker advise us of the best gate to go through last March, and tbh I was delighted to experience a polite, interested and informative employee...

Re: Great to be back, up An Teallach (pics and video)

Seems to me that most report winners are more wordy than this, but your report is superb - the photographs are outstanding, bringing back lots of wonderful memories - and your video is totally wonderful, capturing the flavour of the day, and what a day it was! It's a winner for me

Re: Group from USA planning 2016, Scotland walking tour.

If you're thinking about the Speyside Way, then I could be in a position to help you for part of it. We have a B&B in Dufftown (which is on a spur of the SW) and would be happy to take luggage onwards for you. Most B&Bs would I'm sure. Drop me a message if you're interested. BTW, which dates...

Re: 200th expo

I took a look at the craggy direct ascent from the wee lochan (infinity pool) and decided that was the way I was going....big mistake! Although June, it was still unconsolidated from the winter avalanches. Loose porridgy shale. Even Bob wasn't happy... But got up somehow. Great hills!

Re: Mutts on Munros

Having run in beside the bikes from Kinlochewe, before camping at Lochan Fada for a few nights, Bob was happy to sit for a while, cooried in beside me on Beinn Tarsuinn, as we took in the views to the west. What a magnificent place, the Fisherfields! Can't wait to go back to this true wilderness

Re: So, how did you do?

In February I was determined to reach my 100th...**** conditions postponed it...again and again and again. I also wanted my dog to reach his 50th... but eventually we made it and so it was, that I was now looking forwards to my 141, which was achieved on Beinn dearg (Atholl) in September. Also the d...

Re: Hill Top Viewfinder App

Hesitating to post this, but here goes... I was thinking I'd like to have a simple viewfinder app - something which would produce a graphic a little like the ones you often see on metal or stone discs (like on top of Lochnagar) with radiating lines indicating locations and distances of near and dis...

Re: Beinn Dearg from Old Bridge of Tilt

That's an impressive time  - was chuffed with mine, and that was using a bike! Certainly it was the first time on it in just about 2 years, and that track isn't perhaps the best for getting back into the saddle!

Re: Fisherfields access during stalking - any info?

Many thanks folks - have been in touch, and awaiting reply - the problem is more the fact we're not going in by the usual route via the bothy (which is closed atm ; I believe to accommodate the stalkers? Or feed them their lunch?))

Will keep you posted on the information received from the estate.

Fisherfields access during stalking - any info?

As I'm on school holidays as of Friday - woohoo!!!! - am planning a trip into the Fisherfields with Travis, his mum, Bob the Dog and a tent, assuming the weather gods are kind to us. The plan is to cycle in from Incheril to Lochan Fhada, and use there as a base for 2 or maybe even 3 nights. I can't ...

Re: A Greyish Day On The Greyish One - Liathach

Love it...I think the photos off that Bypass path have just about convinced me not to try it!!! My immediate reaction to the end of the bypass path was to sit down, light a fag and immediately burst into tears!!! A sore shoulder put paid to any scrambling worth speaking of that day. My biggest regr...

Re: Beinn Dearg, Tarf Hotel, An Sgarsoch and Carn an Fhidhle

Not sure whether it's of any use to you but a few years ago I backpacked from Blair Atholl up to Aviemore. I went up Glen Tilt to Carn a' Chlamain, across to the Corbett of Beinn Mheadhonach and then to Beinn Dearg. From there I crossed the upper Tarf, went up Beinn Bhreac and then along the ridge ...
