Corrour station : Beinn Na Lap

Hi, can anyone help with a question please. For getting to Beinn Na Lap, is it really the only way in (for a day trip) via Corrour Station? Having a look at the trains at the weekend and there's hardly any service at all. There's about one stop at lunchtime and then its 6pm. So either batter up and ...

Phew - 238 reports flooded in during August - the first time we've topped 200 in a month. Thankyou all! :D I've read loads of them, but must admit I hadn't noticed there had been that many, any chance of doing something with the trip reports so that its easy to find all the new ones and keep them i...

Winter officially here!

Sorry guys, (and yippee for a few in here) but word has it that winter is officially here. Word comes via my hillwalking mate, via a lorry driver who was up in Aviemore today and the first very light snow fall happened! Personally I could have done with this not happening for another 36 months, but ...

Ultra Mega Mega Challenge

Just back from the Edinburgh Book Festival where Mark Beaumont was talking about his round the world cycle trip. The sheer determination it must have taken really is inspiring. And in a small way bagging Munro's is a bit like it. No matter what getting out and just bagging, totally different scale t...

Re: Mamores Challenge

W O W!

I've read that its possible to do the Mamores in one go, but 3750m of ascent just seemed too mental to me for anyone other than the steven fallons of the world to do! Well done!

Re: A Walkhighlands Meet Up?

Just emailed the Glencoe Ind Hostel about reserving their bunkhouse so I will let you all know what comes of it. Taking a quick tally now to check numbers, the bunkhouse will hold 16 of us. I'm guessing Paul and his van will be sleeping outside  . Those of you on the most likely list, if you d...

Re: 1ST Munro. Ben Lomond

Don't wait, now you've done your first one they get a lot easier. My first one was Lomond and I was utterly cream crackered and about your weight as well. I kept at it and it does get a lot easier. Now lost 2 stone and can fairly sprint up them. 2hrs 45 was not a bad time at all for getting to the t...

Re: HEAVYWEIGHT BAGGING

I'm 17 stone, but I'm 6' 6" so not exactly rotund, but still have to push all that weight up the hill! sickens me when my mate can sprint up the hill, but he's only stone. Gravity makes pushing more weight up hill harder!
