Scurdie Ness

I wore welly boots for this. Glad of them, especially at Usan where ankle deep mud was inavoidable for a few metres. Highlights were the Scurdie Ness lighthouse, Elephant Rock and the graveyard with mason's error. Lowlights were the road return.

Knowe Kniffling on Culter Fell

I climbed Culter Fell a few years ago without realising there was a good 5 Donald round to be had. When planning a return to climb Chapelgill Hill, I spotted the intriguingly named Iron Age hill fort of Knowe Kniffling on the map. It had to be visited. $matches[2] I planned a running route to do the...

Re: Beinn a'Ghlo avoiding the C-19 crowds

Hi @rustille thanks for your comment. I'm sorry my times, distances and elevation numbers didn't match your experience. Maybe the US Military were skewing the satellite data that day :? . Here's my GPX timings: 01:24:06 Cycle In 05:41:39 Walking (elapsed) 00:45:59 Cycle Out I think that's ~7hrs 50mi...

Free at last - Dee/Avon raid

My first 'proper' hill day in 2021 (not including the Pentland playground), I was so pleased to be permitted to escape the council boundary as lockdown restrictions were eased on the 16th of April. IMG_0527.jpg The weather forecast was almost perfect for the Saturday and I started plotting a route t...

Re: Kirkliston - Local Lockdown Walks

This is a great report - thans for sharing. I am definitely going to have a look at the north bank of the Almond path before the vegetation rises.

Re: Ben Aden sunrise

Nice outing. Twice I’ve looked at a route through those crags to Sgurr a Choire bheithe and twice I’ve opted for the long way round instead, good to see they’re not as bad as they look. Thanks. The crags were fine. Grass all the way, just had to weave and zig-zag between the tiers. Someone or somet...
