Beinn a' Bhuird - approach cycleable?

Considering this for the weekend using the standard Walkhighlands route - given the length was wondering if the initiial approach can be cycled. Pictures on the walk description suggest a decent track, but anyone got any first hand experience? Happy to do the long walk, but also happy to reduce the ...

Cuillin Munros May 2013

I know Snowdonia7 was on Skye at the same time, and has a much better report than this very brief one, so I'll keep the words down and let the pictures do the talking. Having done Blaven last year, but but being unhappy with anything more extreme on the ridge (we are just average walkers) decided to...

Re: Been walking? No trip report but want to share some Phot

Was up above Alva yesterday near Craigleith. There's no path and came across this quite by accident. Don't normally approve of hill memorials, but this is so small out of the way. The plaque says "RIP Paul, enjoy the view". Anyway here is Paul's view...

Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean

Did this route on Saturday; out of the house in Alva at 0630, picked up my mate then straight up and ready to go at 9am. Walk up the valley was fine, steep in places but nothing too dramatic. Got more interesting nearer to Stob Ban : PB121335.JPG Took us two and quarter hours to summit Stob Ban. The...

Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichean

Parked up at the Mamore Lodge Hotel and was on our way for half eight. As per the route description, parking here saves 200m of ascent, and being overweight and over 40 I wasn't going to pass up that easement... Weather was OK, but thick clag and rain coming on and off meant it was a very damp start...

Mamore Lodge parking

Daresay the additional 200m of ascent will not kill us, but just wondering if it is OK to park at the hotel now it is closed, or is the car park locked?

Apols if this has been answered before recently, couldn't find it on a search.

Much obliged!

Re: Cairngorms overnighter - Derry Cairngorm and Beinn Mheadhoin

Think that should be the pics fixed now. Could have been me being a luddite, but will avoid Snapfish in future just in case! Thanks

Cairngorms overnighter - Derry Cairngorm and Beinn Mheadhoin

Day off on Friday, weather forecast iffy but since a day off work is not to be wasted decided to go for an overnighter in the Cairngorms. Had originally planned to do Beinn Mheadhoin and camp at Loch Etchachan as we set off about 10 from the Cairngorm ski centre car park. Followed the ski road up to...

On its own, Stob Coire Sgreamhach

Was a very wet and cold morning, but having climbed Bidean Nam Bian a few years ago without doing it's neighbour, we had unfinished business... Rain dried up a bit after we set off, and apart from the odd shower we were reasonably lucky with the weather. Was grey but cloud base was about 1000m. Mana...
