Re: I Hate Young People 3: Youths in the mist

Yes, "create". Definitely not channelling my own cognitive dissonance.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Re: I Hate Young People 3: Youths in the mist

The good news is that they don't stay youth's for long.... Even better, some of them leave home and leave you in peace. But of course they still send photos to annoy you about what they are upto... Urrggghh: achieving worthwhile goals and being self-fulfilled. Looks like one of those athletic youth...

I Hate Young People 3: Youths in the mist

For the third year in a row, it was time to tackle the Scottish Highlands with the youths. After two timeless classics ( viewtopic.php?f=9&t=109873 and viewtopic.php?f=9&t=114072 ), would the third instalment of the trilogy measure up? Would it reach the heights of Rocky 3 or Mad Max Beyond ...

Baosbheinn via the Oidhche Spur: Part 2

My description of the route up the Oidhche Spur can be found in Part 1 here: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=120575 . Baosbheinn.gpx This report takes over where that one left off, at the top of Baosbheinn's subsidiary (and unnamed) eastern peak. We arrived at the top i...

Baosbheinn via the Oidhche Spur: Part 1

Two and a half weeks in Scotland at the beginning of July were intended to be an opportunity to climb some rocky classics in the Northwest Highlands: perhaps Liathach's northern pinnacles or some scary routes on A'Mhaighdean or Beinn Arigh Charr. But the continually rainy weather put paid to those p...

Re: Heaven

Unbelievable photos of the reflections in the lakes. I am very envious. I was hoping to get into the area this year (at the very end of June), but with the iffy weather, opted for the Fannichs instead; only got to see into Carnmore from a distance.

Re: Beinn Eighe - from end to (almost) end

Glad you got a chance to try the Lawson Ling and Glover route. Looks like you had an excellent day notwithstanding the weather. I don't recall the bad step being a problem at all (at least in ascent), but I was doing it in bright sun, which makes route finding much easier. It's always a bit unnervin...

Oh, in case you want to see the downclimb before the Witch's Step, it is shown in this picture.

The Witch's Step, with some of Scotland's best views

This is my second walk report from Arran, where I spend some of May trying to complete three classic scrambles/climbs. The first report covering the A'Chir ridge (completed as part of a round of Glen Rosa) can be found here: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=119094 . This...

Re: Round of Glen Rosa with the A'Chir Ridge

Super helpful report thanks!! I'm off to Arran in July so hopefully will get as good weather as you for it. Thank you. I hope you enjoy the visit and get a few clear days. I'm going to post a report on Caisteal Abhail and the Witch's Step when I get the time, which I thought was the best walk of th...

Re: Round of Glen Rosa with the A'Chir Ridge

Thank you, John. I'm already at 40 attachments for the Report, but I have a few more pictures of the route. (Several are bit over-exposed.) Here are a couple of the run up to the ridge (prior to the bad step). $matches[2] $matches[2] Here's the wall encountered after the bad step (climbable round to...

Round of Glen Rosa with the A'Chir Ridge

This is the first of two (or maybe three) reports covering some of Arran's classic climbs/scrambles: the A'Chir Ridge, the Witch's Step, and Mullach Buidhe's northwest ridge. I was greatly looking forward to giving these routes a try but was a little nervous. I was going to be walking solo and was n...

Re: I guess it's an excuse to climb them again

Thank you for the pictures. I am definitely going to explore the southern ridges when I'm next in the area (ill-health, sudden death, unexpected bankruptcy or deportation, etc, allowing).
