Re: The heat

I love seeing the blue skies, but the high temperatures have made it uncomfortable walking for me as heat can triggers seizures. So I've taken to walking early in the morning. Far cooler and more comfortable.

Re: Memorial plaques

Interesting thread. Sadly people who steal metal have no conscience - if they are prepared to take metal from hospitals, graveyards and railway lines then they won't think anything of a mountain, hill, field or pathway. These people are desperate for any quantity of metal. Organisations such as the ...

Ospreys

Along with Arnoldsidways i went to see a pair of ospreys. It was evening and my first time taking photos of wildlife at that time of the day. I'm more of a morning person. Male and female ospreys were getting their nest in order. Fingers crossed for chicks! I didn't have a tripod so keeping the came...

Snowy conditions

Finally got out of the house to snow that was knee deep in places. At least the snow was soft yesterday, but today it is was a lot harder not to slip. Think I will be taking walking poles with me tomorrow! Wellies were awkward. Found it easier to move in the snow with walking boots, waterproof trous...

Re: Mutts on Munros

This has to be one of my favourite threads! I don't have a dog, but I wish I did! If my circumstances change I will be off to get a wee four legged walking companion from the dogs trust. It is great to see people enjoying time outdoors with their dogs, but most importantly giving the dogs freedom th...

Gaelic

The Gaelic lessons are going fine! Had to miss two lessons because of doing the West Highland Way - so there was a bit of catching up to do! Certainly am struggling with the grammar! But it is really enjoyable. Going back over the place names along the West Highland Way was interesting and being abl...

Help needed to indentify these

These were taken with my camera phone as i dropped my other one at the start of the walk :( I love the sides of ...

Re: Odd things seen on walks

True, very good points made. I can see that in certain temperatures - ie, hot then it would come in useful. I think perhaps it just looks a bit loopy when it is very windy. But the comment about the notebook is an especially good one. Photos are great, but putting down in words what you are thinking...

Odd things seen on walks

During the WHW walk with Chrisabelle we saw many people, some with bikes, bags of all sizes and weird gear. For me the ultimate had to be a woman who had an umbrella for what seemed to be most stages of the walk. The day that seemed the most bizarre was the walk from Kingshouse onwards - up the Devi...

Re: West Highland Way - not quite

Thank you for the comments :) It was an interesting week. It isn't going to stop me from walking or raising money for charities.....it is just that i will have to plan them more carefully next time. I am now trying to go through the photos from my mobile and it is proving awkward. It keeps saying me...

West Highland Way - not quite

Attempted to to do the West Highland Way over the last week with Chrisabelle. She - wonderful woman - managed every step of the way! I found it hard going and i didn't complete the walk, and there were bits that i really wanted to do. Overall the walk was an amazing experience. I have not bee...
