I now use Memory Map software (£50 for entire UK 1:50K) and a 100% waterproof Ortlieb A6 sized map case. You can get a a lot of map if you just print out the area you need, no need to mess about with laminators, fits in pretty much all trouser and jacket pockets. Big maps in big map cases are a hass...
