Bridge over Keltie Burn

Hi, Can anyone tell me if the bridge has been replaced yet over (I think it is the Keltie Burn), on the route to Ben Vorlich and Stuc a' Chroin from the Callander end. The bridge was just before reaching the bothy but was washed away several years ago. I know the one at Bracklinn Falls has been repl...

Re: Liathach on Fire...

Hi Andrew, a well deserved winner. Liathach is the only mountain I ever cried on. I was all for turning back but the leader of the group I was with would not allow me so I went on. Glad I did once I was safely down. I have completed many munros but am terrified of sheer drops (o.k. if I have about a...

Re: Blackwater Reservoir Kinlochleven.

Have not been on this site for ages so was very pleased to see that more people have read my walk to the Blackwater dam. Paul, I did read "Children of the Dead End" and enjoyed it immensely. I was so sorry to hear the report by lost soul. Yes we do take a chance walking alone but we accept...

Happy New Year

Hi, not been on this site much since dislocating shoulder in June. Been doing "girlie"walks. Getting confidence back now so will have to get out and about again. Happy New Year to you all. Jeanette.

Re: Disaster

The first time I did Stuchd an Lochain was with the Livingston Ramblers and all went well. I went back on my own a couple of years ago and parked at the wrong dam. I quickly realised things were not as I remembered but by the time I worked it out and drove to the proper dam it was a bit too late to ...

Say Hello

Hi, I am Jeanette. I started walking with the Livingston Ramblers about 20 years ago and have them to thank for the skills I have learned as regards safety on the Scottish mountains. I walked in a group with them for about 5 years and then broke away with 3 others and started to bag munros. It becam...

Re: Want To Help With Re-hab!!!

Hi Bio-man, Sorry I have not replied sooner but I have not been on the site for a while. I am so sorry about your fall. It must have been awful. I assume the mountain rescue and air rescue did sterling work as usual. It is great that you have got your confidence back and it sounds as if you are doin...

Re: What is the best hill in Scotland?

I voted Liathach, which I did several years ago, with the Livingston Ramblers. It is the only munro I have ever been really scared on, but then I have still to do the Aonach Eagach and the In Pin, as well as several others. I did Alligin the following day and enjoyed it immensely. The views from bot...

Re: Blackwater Reservoir Kinlochleven.

Canisp and Paul thanks for your comments. As Paul correctly states, the water below the dam does not exist in normal weather. The top of the dam is fenced off and a no access notice is up. Canisp I laughed at your comment "probably how I will end up". Paul I will read Children of the Dead ...

Blackwater Reservoir Kinlochleven.

I did this walk alone on the 19th February 2008. I did the route as printed out from this website. I am an experienced "munro bagger" but due to a foot operation had not done any serious walking for some months. I am female, age 60 and 5 feet 2 inches tall. I give this info as I maintain I...
