Re: Small van for camping

Please feel free to delete from this forum if not appropriate. I was wondering does anybody have experience or advice on using a small L1 van for camping/sleeping? I'm looking to buy something of this size as I'll need it for general day to day commuting as well as heading off to the Highlands bagg...

Re: Ring of Steall

Well I went round the Ring of Steall yesterday - what a day out  My favourite day out of my 70 Munros so far. It was slightly more exposed than the Glen Shiel ridge but nothing difficult - thanks again for all the advice :D Can confirm that I now require new knees after the descent of Sgurr A’...

Re: Ring of Steall

Ring of Steall is a bit harder and more exposed, I would say, but not by a huge margin. Thats pretty much what im looking for, was always wanting that bit extra at Glen Shiel, Thanks for the quick reply! I agree with jmarkb. The Ring of Steall is also a far better day out, save it for a good day. I...

Ring of Steall

Hi there,

Quick question, how does the ring of steall compare to the South Glen Sheil ridge? In terms of exposure/scrambling?

Went round the glen sheil ridge this week and really enjoyed the small scrambly bits, but just wondering if the ring of steall will be easier/harder.

Thanks in advance :D

South Glen Shiel Ridge..

Anyone done the South Glen Shiel ridge solo? How did you tackle the road? Just walk it at the end? I have them planned for the next few weeks but really dont want to walk the road after 7 Munros  Would it be possible to cycle the road at the start, then pick up bike at end? Any tips welcome :D

Busy Beinn A'Ghlo

So today was the day I was going to hit the half century, 11 months after beginning my journey.. I chose the Beinn A'Ghlo 3 as it was looking good weather wise and wanted a trip to get me up to the 5-0  I left the house at around 5.30am, hoping to get a nice early start at it - here are the vie...

Re: The Quickest and Ugliest Munro's..

The Cairnwell really is a sad mess, but I think these three are improved by taking a somewhat longer route from Baddoch: the N ridge of Carn Aosda is a good way up, out of sight of the ski area, and you can head N off Carn a' Gheoidh to return via the track along the Baddoch Burn (or even add in An...

Re: The Quickest and Ugliest Munro's..

I really enjoyed that video! Thanks. What did you use to record with? Which drone do you have? I am thinking about doing these three next Friday with my son (His first 1st-3rd and my 3rd-5th, done Mayar and Dreish already) as part of the itinerary of a night a way we have booked in Ballater....

Re: Duke of Edinburgh awards

The Duke of Edinburgh scheme is great, I completed it last year (just in time - aged 24) The expedition was 5 days training in the lakes, then a 4 day expedition over Scafell Pike and surrounding area. Great introduction to the mountains! Not sure as to why it was based in the lake district when we ...

Stretching my legs on the Monadhliath Trio..

Today was going to be a "little" leg stretcher, the Monadhliath three munros.. A'Chailleach, Carn Sgulain and Carn Dearg. The forecast was stunning for the early morning, so i made my way there nice and early. These are in my local tier area so not too far away either. $matches[2] It was a...
