Re: Panther's sanctuary

A very good read - thanks. I live only a few miles from this round but have never given these hills any thought. After reading your report that will soon be remedied!

Re: Super Day in Kintail - Brothers Ridge

From the photographs I assume this walk took place last summer. Perhaps changing the date of the walk would be helpful to avoid confusion.

Re: The late great Hamish MacInness

Very sad news and, for once, the term 'legendary' is appropriate. This article describes the two man Creag Dubh attempt on Everest in 1953 - the list of expedition expenses at the end makes particularly interesting reading! https://www.alpinejournal.org.uk/Contents/Contents_1955_files/AJ60%201955%20...

Re: Rab Jacket Confusion

I bought a Rab Kangri jacket (Goretex) last year that has been excellent though it is a bit pricier. I also have a Kinetic Plus that is excellent as a breathable soft shell but, in my experience, wets out quickly in heavy rain. Pertex Shield has not worked well for me in the past.

Re: Record attempt: Slowest compleation, 14349 days and coun

I pretty much agree with all of that. Having come back to the Munros after quite a long break I've been thinking about the differences. The proliferation of paths is the obvious one as is the availability of GPS and even the existence of this web site. I think it's great in that it's encouraged more...

Re: Record attempt: Slowest compleation, 14349 days and coun

Many thanks for the link to Munro Matters - it's new to me and reassuring to see so many taking 50 years or more!

Re: Record attempt: Slowest compleation, 14349 days and coun

My first Munro was climbed in April 1972 as part of an outward bound course on the Captain Scott Schooner then based in Plockton. Since then I've climbed many hills and also been diverted into sailing and other things. During lockdown it occurred to me that a 50 year round was possible if I get a mo...

Re: Day 4 - Moruisg and cycle out

I too have enjoyed your reports mixed with a mild feeling of guilt. I now live only a few miles from Achnashellach and have done most of those hills this year however being able to choose the day and return home to a non deflating bed is very different from camping in a small tent and taking what ev...

Re: Beinn Fhada early morning: Wildlife, drizzle, mist, but vi

Good report, thanks. I was one of the solo walkers you met just below the plateau and sadly no view on Fhada so your film fills the gaps! Two hours later the cloud lifted and justified toiling up A' Ghlas Bheinn.
