Ettrick Hills circuit

Followed WH route, more snow than anticipated but weather better than forecast.

Also took in White Shank, Smidhope Hill, Hopetoun Craig - all tops, as part of the route

Broad Law & some neighbours

Day out with dad for a circuit of Donald’s. Parked at the Megget stone (enough room for 2 cars). Opted to add in another Donald and Top to the WH Broad Law route. First headed up to Talla Cleuch Head (Donald), leaving the WH route through a gate before reaching Cairn Law. No feature on Talla Cleuch ...

Can you remember roughly what time you started your walk at ?
Thanks

So sorry, I’ve only just seen your message! Not that it’s much help now but I left the car park just after 7. Did you go on Sunday?

Sunrise on Ben A’an

A fabulous morning walk up Ben A’an. Had I left 10 minutes earlier to account for the fact the Dukes Pass “may not be treated for ice/snow” I’d have caught first light from the summit. The pass appeared frosty, okay not icy, but still took it easy - I did aim of reaching the car park. Anyway, cracki...

Rounding the year off on Tinto

Great to bring the year to the close with a leg stretcher up Tinto with Dad.

Icy in bits, which meant the bog was frozen and easily avoided. Windy on top, snowed during descent but nothing to worry about thankfully.

Happy New Year everyone & happy walking in 2024!

A fine winters walk

Ascent is approx A beautiful winters day forecasted made for a very fine walk with Dad, Chris & his friend Davie. We’d opted before hand to not include the Corbett on this route and head directly for the Munro. After passing through the last gate/over the stile. We made a beeline uphill here, sk...

Carn na Caim duo

Annual leave on a Friday, means a Friday on the hills. Weather in the east was forecasted to be {slightly better} than the west. But it turned out to be a great day. Mist sitting over Carn Na Caim on approach but that cleared once we hit the top and stayed clear the rest of the day until a bit on ra...

Glas Moal Circuit

Days off lined up with dad, both wanting to get out so headed into the Cairngorms to the Cairnwell pass to tackle the Glas Moal circuit. Wind forecasted to be strong and passing rain predicted. Whilst the wind was strong at times, thankfully we dodged the passing rain showers until a quarter of a mi...

8 in the ochills

Been thinking for a while about attempting the Ochill Donald’s (&tops) together. Last minute holiday approved from work and I decided this was it, I was going for it. Plotted several escape routes where I knew I could bail if it all seemed too much. Tied in with the husbands day off so I could b...

Ben Ledi & Stank Glen

Followed WH route, with the exception of taking an earlier turning at a T-Junction down the Glen.

Great views all around this morning. Steep ascent through the forest assisted by stone pitched steps

A few more photos than normal but delighted with the views.
