Moidart at its best

$matches[2] I am amazed that there are so few walk reports for this wonderful hike – it has to be one of the best days out! The Small Isles provide such a wonderful backdrop and it should only be done on the clearest of days. $matches[2] Rois-Bheinn and An Stac We parked by the fish farm at Inverai...

The adder may still be there but the loch isn't

A very different Lochan na Doire-uaine today. In the dry weather, the underlying peat has cracked and all the water has drained from the loch. I've seen that happen with lochs on peat bases before e.g. the Vanishing Lake of Loughareema near Ballycastle in Northern Ireland. DSC_0449.JPG DSC_0452 - DS...

Torridon showing off its best side

A glorious early winter's day allowed perfect visibility for this hike which could be awkward in cloud, enough daylight to do it without any worries and only a hard frost rather than ice which would have complicated the rocky scrambles. Torridon at its best and absolutely no-one else on the hill. Le...

Re: Voyages of the Graham Bagger: Beinn Dhorain

Another really useful report that we used on Friday. How a bit of snow can make an ordinary hill quite wonderful! One thing of note, there is a new deer fence to cross twice going up and twice going down but as it has been really well made, there are special gates for walkers on this route up and so...

Log in problems

I have the very odd problem of not being able to log in on my laptop but can do so in my phone. If I try to log in on the laptop, nothing happens when I hit submit. If I try the forgotten password link (I haven't forgotten it), again nothing happens except the boxes are cleared. No email ever comes....

Re: A Corbett nextdoor...

In the first big snow fall of 2020, we followed this route but it is not easy in thigh deep heather covered by thigh deep snow! A bit of a slog and we didn't make it to the top. The trade route is much easier in difficult conditions!!
