Re: Can you bike up Glen Feshie east side from Achlean ?

The bothy was open when I was last up there a few weeks ago. I didn't go in but there was vehicle outside that I think belongs the the chap who goes up there most days to look after it and smoke was coming from the chimney. We had tea and biscuits with him last January while he told us about all the...

Re: Can you bike up Glen Feshie east side from Achlean ?

This is 18 months late but I've cycled up Glen Feshie recently so have info that may be useful. The old path leaves the new one at NN 8510 9579 and crosses the Allt Garbhlach at 8513 9539. The path is easy to follow but starting to get overgrown with heather and young trees however crossing the Allt...

It is Carrantouhil, Irelands highest mountain. I though it was time Ireland got some coverage.

Re: Where is the picture? - Europe

Zell am Ziller? Got it. The pic was taken from the Gerlos pass road after visiting Krimml Waterfalls. Must have driven that myself then as we also visited Krimml when staying at Mayrhofen a couple of years ago. My first guess was a lucky one then. what's the name of this peak. Re: Where is the picture? - Europe

I don't think it's in the Dolomites, more like Austria...... or Switzerland....... or France maybe....... or somewhere else in northern Italy.

I'll have a guess at Mayrhofen.

Re: Where's the Picture................Wales 2013

I'll give you that one. We were camped just above Bwlch Tryfan. Determination got you there in the end :-) Looking at the photo its easy to assume you are on the other side of the Ogwen valley. Its only when you look carefully at the map that you realize Foel goch would be right in front or to the ...

That's the one. Persistence pays off
It was taken on the Tete Rousse Glacier, heading towards the refuge which is just tucked out of site.

Over to you.

Re: Where is the picture? - Europe

The picture was taken in late afternoon, hence the trench in the snow and you are looking at this peak from the north.

Re: Where's the Picture................Wales 2013

I've had the map spread out on the floor and recon you are on a bearing of about 100 from Elidir Fawr, which unlikely as it seems puts you on the north ridge of Tryfan, probably on that flat area to the east of the milestone buttress. I wouldn't have thought that was high enough to get the shot but ...
