Re: Stretching out the lockdown legs on the Fisherfield Six!

Really enjoyed this report - Isn't it such an amazing area? After that tedious slog up A'Mhaighdean, those views really do render one speachless. So glad you got the good weather in the end. And you must have had a breeze - no complaints about wee beesties or clegs. Couldn't get more perfect. Thank...

Stretching out the lockdown legs on the Fisherfield Six!

$matches[2] I awoke to rain pattering down gently on my tent and snuggled back into my sleeping bag. Just a few more minutes. Besides, I was still contemplating my options – break the round into 2 days with a bivvy half way, or go light and storm round in a one-er. Memory still fresh of the heavy p...

Rum in the Sun

Bank Holiday weekend… in spite of a less than ideal weather forecast we stepped off the ferry at 08:50am onto Rum thrilled to bits with the unexpectedly sunny Saturday morning. We admired Kinloch castle as we passed, and resisted the temptation to seek caffeine and explore the crafts shop… the hills...

Re: Approaching Foinaven by bike

Thanks Emily.. as it happens, I did the Foinaven traverse yesterday- cycled from Gualin House to Achfary first and walked out via the Strath Dionard path. It was a pretty gruelling bike ride in the wind and I started the walk knackered, but I did note the state of the path in the way out and thought...

Re: Approaching Foinaven by bike

Thanks for your recommendation! It's really great to hear how other people have done it and and to get their opinion! Thanks to everyone for taking the trouble to reply! :)
It's now a toss up between full traverse from Achfary to Gualin House and biking it in and out via Strath Dionard :)

Re: Approaching Foinaven by bike

Haha! Thanks for the alternative route suggestion. I have a pretty basic bike more suited to roads than full-on mountain terrain so I'm keen to stick to good, well developed paths! :)

Re: Approaching Foinaven by bike

Thanks, that's good to know.. and also that there isn't a sign expressly forbidding bikes from using the path. Great report by the way! :)

Approaching Foinaven by bike

Hi folks, I've recently set my sights on Foinaven and was wondering if it was possible to speed up the approach by cycling along the Strath Dionard path (and returning that way). I read somewhere that cycling is not permitted on the estate and wondered if anyone could confirm? Also, if I opted for t...

Re: A Wintery Forcan Ridge

Great report and beautiful pics.... the ridge looks amazing! Thanks for sharing the video too, really helpful for getting a feel for how technical the ridge would be in winter conditions.
