Rocky Ben Vane

Munro number 50 for me. I'm not bagging, more counting as I go, and 50 seems worth mentioning given it's taken me 14 years to get to it! Ben Vane from Inveruglas. Only the second munro I've done on my own (did Ben Vorlich in June, so waved to it on my way up this one). According to WalkHighlands it ...

Re: Swimming with the fishes in the fields..

Man alive, not a chance I've have kept going in those conditions. Well done, and I think you deserve some webtogs vouchers to replace your holey waterproof trousers after that!

Re: A glorious day on the South Glen Shiel Ridge

Frankly you sound like a maniac! Or perhaps just much fitter than me... Well done. Love that first photo. Always nice to get a cracking view at the top of a hill too, great pics.

Re: Spidean Mialach and Gleouraich – our Vicar of Dibley day

Thinking this would be a good idea for summer on the west coast of Scotland   http://www.amazon.com/Mosquito-Net-Body-Suit-Mombasa/dp/B004861588 Great report, I did those two the other way round, but didn't see a thing until top of Spidean. Ha! Can you imagine wandering the campsite dress...

Re: Spidean Mialach and Gleouraich – our Vicar of Dibley day

yeesh. That looks like one itchy leg. Great adventure and report. In answer to your final question. Perhaps you could fill a platypus or camelbak with red wine and get some midge free drinking under the net that way... Genius! Why did we not think about that? I'm sure my water pouch holds 2 litres...

Spidean Mialach and Gleouraich – our Vicar of Dibley day

Summer in Scotland, what better way to experience it than a weekend away camping and hillwalking? Annie P and I chose Invergarry, where it seemed all the midges had also chosen to go for the weekend. Being an East coast girl who lives in Glasgow, I had never experienced menaces like this! Spending 1...

Ben Ledi - big panto BOOOOO to the mist

BEN LEDI 27-05-09 After doing my first munro, I was totally hooked and desperate to get up another hill. But things don’t always turn out as planned…. I blame Dolina. Both times that it’s only been the two of us out walking, something en route has gone wrong! First time we tried to do a walk in Stra...

Re: A face full of faeces in the Fannaichs

The only disapointing thing about your report was that there was no picture of you covered in dung! Possibly hard to do if you were on your own, and I'm sure at the time it was the last thing on your mind, but my, it would have been a classic. It's swine flu that we're all worried about rather than ...

Re: Thunderstorms make life exciting?

I thought this walking malarkey was supposed to be good for you? :) I certainly wouldn't have been happy to be in that situation, but good advice which will be remembered. Glad to hear you made it back in one piece!

Re: TRIP REPORT OF THE MONTH - JUNE

Wow, how chuffed am I! :D That's great, thank you very much. I'm glad my sense of madness appealed, rather than you thinking I was just mad. I don't think I'll ever find anything as good as the Bum Rock again though....

My first munro

LOCHNAGAR 20.06.09 If you can tell me a better way to spend the longest day than climbing your first munro, I’ll give you a packet of jelly babies! I’m a relatively inexperienced walker when it comes to hills, the outdoors, and navigating in the wilderness, but as someone who is fast becoming addict...
