Coire na Tulaich

Has anybody been up BEM in the last few days - specifically up the Coire na Tulaich? I have a mate who has asked me to accompany him doing a charity climb on Saturday but when it comes to the white stuff he's a bit fearty to say the least. He'll cope if their is snow lying between the bealach and th...

Re: Birthday on Meall Ghaordaidh

I was on Ben More (Mull) the same day celebrating my birthday too! Happy Birthday :D I did Meall Ghaordaidh in winter too - although getting up and down the approach road in the car was a nightmare, so much snow and ice that the car spun and narrowly missed a wall  It's definitely a more enjo...

Re: Meall Nan Tarmachan - Conditions?

Hi, I did the ridge last Sunday. The only tricky bit was a large ice patch covering the path in the gully after the 923 spot height on the final pull up to the ridge. The guy I was with was very nervous and I kicked large steps for him so he had a good grip. Crampons would have helped but it's over ...

99 Blue Balloons go by - Tarmachan Ridge

With Darren Nice easy climb up to 923m. Nasty snow patch completely covering the path on the ascent to Tarmachan. Kicking steps and planting the poles was enough to get up but an axe and crampons would have made easy work of it. Fantastic views at the top. Meall Garbh is a superb narrow summit. Daz ...

Re: Snow on Ben Chonzie at the moment

I think I passed you guys on my way down (black jacket, blue bobble hat!)
Great views, but it was a wee bit blowy wasn't it

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

With Darren
Very slow stroll up as it was Daz's 1st Munro. Very high winds on the top with occasional light snow blizzard. Summit shelter reached with much relief and hunkering down. Great views over the glen turret reservoir

Re: An electrifying moment on Ben More (Isle of Mull)

You got some lovely views and photos though!
Ooft, I don't fancy being electrocuted much - I'm off to Mull for a long weekend at the end of the month and hope to get Ben More done. Is the fence on the WH route or did you take one of your "alternative" routes up?

Re: Choosing my first munro

Another vote for Schiehallion. I took a while to choose and eventually chose that one, a great decision. A clear path with spectacular views (on the right day). I was on the BEB last Saturday and there was a lot of snow. One of the summits (the name escapes me just now) gets very narrow and even wit...

Re: White Coomb, sublime Loch Skeen & a sting in the Tail (B

I agree it's a lovely part of the country. You got some superb cloud photos all the better for the lovely blue sky! I got caught on Lochcraig Head at the beginning of a thunderstorm a few years back and realised I was standing on a huge hill with two metal poles in my hands just as lightning threate...

We should be so Lochy

With Kev.
First munros for 2.5 years. Nice to be out again.
Major ice sheet on Teanga that needed to be traversed. Amazing cornices on Ghairbh that are ready to collapse.
Straightforward navigation but tough walk on the muscles!
