Re: Smashing Scotland's three Ugliest Sisters

Really pleased the knee has improved....mainly so I can have a laugh at your reports. I think physios can work absolute wonders so really pleased for you. Yeah, I couldn't believe the difference. Absolutely chuffed with the result. Hurt like hell getting it sorted but definitely worth it. Would rec...

Yeah, I didn't hang around there as I was well and truly scunnered by then, a swift 180 and back the way I came!

Smashing Scotland's three Ugliest Sisters

For anyone reading this who may know me from way back, I'm afraid to tell you that I am not finally spilling the beans on what happened at THAT after-party following the night in The Art School in Glasgow in about 2002. I don't have much of a sense of shame, but everyone has their limit - that story...

Re: Grow a mo', save a bro', climb a (Mun)'ro?

Great read! I agree completely about using poles - I couldn't be without them these days and in fact have needed them for well over 10 years now. They take a lot of strain off your joints. It's painful enough going up and down mountains :) without added aches which could (hopefully) be relie...

Re: Grow a mo', save a bro', climb a (Mun)'ro?

All these guys tell clients they are 1mm shorter on one side than the other. I think it is a con to get expensive insoles custom made for you. I fell for it, so did a friend. In the grand scheme of bumps and lumps you walk across 1mm is neither here nor there. However, knees are knees. Fair enough,...

Re: Cotswold Outdoor walk report of the month winners

Likewise - thanks very much!

I'm glad someone appreciated my cack-handed efforts at Munro climbing, as the wife certainly doesnt!

Re: Dreich + Drenched = Driesh (And Mayar)

Oops, that could have been me. If it was, in my defence, it was a beautiful summer's night which was a bit different from what you faced. Great report though    Right, that's it. I don't need bad influences like you felling my head with nonsense. Blocked  If it had been a nice d...

Dreich + Drenched = Driesh (And Mayar)

Here we go again. Another weekend, another poorly-conceived plan to tick a Munro off the list. Except this time, it’s two Munros. So long as the weather holds out (i.e. isn’t six feet of snow at sea level) the plan has been to get out at least every second weekend, more if the opportunity arises spo...

Re: Grow a mo', save a bro', climb a (Mun)'ro?

Sounds like we're having similar knee issues! Followed the breadcrumbs to read your Lochnagar adventure too (great writing), you got some great advice in the comments on how to tackle dodgy knees. I will have to learn a thing or two from all the wisdom so readily shared :D Yeah, being serious for a...

Enjoy them while you can, I've only got 278 of these things to go so won't be around long I'm sure!

Re: Grow a mo', save a bro', climb a (Mun)'ro?

Nice 'tash! Another enjoyable report, thanks. That scene from RotLA is an absolute classic!! Looking forward to Christmas for an excuse to watch it. :) I took my mountain bike up (almost to summit) of Mount Keen whilst escaping the in-laws one Christmas a wee while ago....that definitely helps with...

Grow a mo', save a bro', climb a (Mun)'ro?

Now, let's get one thing out in the open here. I cannot, and probably never will be able to, grow any meaningful face-hair. Even my old man chappin' on the door of 80 years old doesn't really seem to be able to cultivate much. I'm happy to accept that due to genetics, I'm always going to be face-fol...

Re: Met a girl on Monday, took her for a drink on Tuesday...

Great effort for all that. Pity about the weather as the views up there are fabulous. Cheers - the weather added a certain challenge to it. If I do go back for the other Munros, hopefully the weather is kinder! So much to look forward to, mist, rain, sleat, clag, snow, cold, hot, midgies, cl...

Met a girl on Monday, took her for a drink on Tuesday...

Unfortunately, this is not the journal of a man who has just gone all Craig David on any beautiful honeyz. More's the pity. Instead, these are the scribblings of someone who: - Decided to do their first Munro on Tuesday - Went shopping on Thursday - Pulled a sickie and climbed Lochnagar on Friday. A...
