Re: Advice on a Lairig Grhu and Ben Macdui route

Tailors burn can be a little steep and bouldery - particularly at the start of the descent. Another option worthy of consideration might be to ascend Macdui from the north, then drop down towards the east to Coire Etchachan and past the Hutchison Bothy, then out via Glen Derry. I took a simlar line ...

I think I'll be available on Monday 18th, and either of those rounds sound good. I'll drop you a PM also.

Cairngorm Weekend

cairngorms 6 track small.gpx With the fine weather and some holiday days to take before the end of June, it seemed like an ideal opportunity to spend some time up the hills. Also - after a warm-up on Beinn Chabhair a few weeks back, I felt that my hill legs were firmly attached. This week, I came t...

Re: North Glen Sheil Five

You didn't mention having to scale the fence yesterday at the start. Annoyed me a bit as the "walkers gate" also had a chain and padlock on it!! Ah - that's because I didn't! I recall being surprised at that walkers gate, because it looked like it was fully secured, but on closer inspecti...

North Glen Sheil Five

Hello - this is my first walk report - I've used WH for a few years, mainly for research. Late last year, I had come to the alarming realisation that I hadn't completed any hillwalks in 2016 at all! So this year, I've been using every possible opportunity to get out, and to start pushing the boundar...

Re: Wonderful (& longish) Etive 8 Ridge Walk - Creise to Sta

I'm now really convinced it's worth hanging on until the forecast is good, and then taking the holiday to suit the weather. I recall you said that's exactly what you did also. Absolutely - it's not always possible of course, but everything seemed to align on that particular day. Off to Beinn a'Choc...

Re: Wonderful (& longish) Etive 8 Ridge Walk - Creise to Sta

Well done, I was the walker that you chatted with over sandwiches on the summit of Stob Ghabhar. Glad to see you made it back safely - a spectacular trip.

Regards,
Mike
