Mantas are great but I use my Scarpa Charmoz for winter in Scotland. Sturdy enough for the conditions but not as heavy. Can take crampons and all in all a slightly cheaper version of mantas but just as good. ( I use both).

Thanks for the tips guys, makes things more interesting and gives me a few more ideas.
Thinking of doing this overnighter(or 2) during the week some time within the next couple of weeks.

Fancy putting some of my old gear to use to see if it still holds up. The Ochils are in my back garden but I rarely explore them. Anyone know of any decent wildcamping spots? Or is it better to just head up and find my own area?
