Cairngorm Mountain LTD stooshie
It appears that Cairngorm Mountain & Natural Retreats have taken the law into their own hands and decided to vandalize the property of Scottish Ski Club by taking down their webcams. Some might remember that last year CM was caught red handed illegally digging up the mountainside by their own we...

A new gear review...
Hi folks,
I was wondering if we could have a new gear review on something which isnt exactly "gear".
Its always a minefield when choosing "meal packs" for long trips/multi day hikes.
I dont think it has been done yet but I'd be interested!
Thanks
David

A winter morning up Beinn Narnain
It had been a couple of years since I ventured up the hills. A mix between becoming a dad and a hectic work life had sucked all the passion I had out of me. That was until a friend asked me to accompany him on a hill walk, it was his first time in the mountains. We chose Beinn Narnain and made our w...

Accomodation searches
Just a quick one
But is there a way the site could include dates and availability into the searches?
I'm looking at places I'd like to book and get my hopes up, but then find they're booked out.

Dead seals found on Coral Beaches, Claigan near Dunvegan.
Just back from a fantastic (if rather stormy) trip to Skye. Whilst their we decided to visit the coral beaches north of Dunvegan, after enjoying the amazing beach and walks we came across 3-4 dead seals on the grass above the rocks. They appeared to have been butchered somehow, thought I know nothin...

Re: Reborn on the Arrochar Alps
I dont think I've been up the Cobbler on a decent day yet!
Last time I went up Ime I was tempted to come back over The Cobbler as the sun was shining... then the cloud came in!

Reborn on the Arrochar Alps
The weather forecast the night before had informed that today would bring us blue skies with a couple of showers here and there. Instead we found ourselves huddled at the base of The Cobbler’s amphitheatre, pinned down by the wind in the midst of a raging snowstorm, visibility down to a couple of fe...

Re: hiking vs mountaineering boots
Mantas are great but I use my Scarpa Charmoz for winter in Scotland. Sturdy enough for the conditions but not as heavy. Can take crampons and all in all a slightly cheaper version of mantas but just as good. ( I use both).

Re: The Ochils, Wildcamping?
Thanks for the tips guys, makes things more interesting and gives me a few more ideas.
Thinking of doing this overnighter(or 2) during the week some time within the next couple of weeks.

The Ochils, Wildcamping?
Fancy putting some of my old gear to use to see if it still holds up. The Ochils are in my back garden but I rarely explore them. Anyone know of any decent wildcamping spots? Or is it better to just head up and find my own area?
Cheers
