Re: Problem with maps

Trying to view maps, haven't had a problem in the past, now it will partially upload, then stop altogether, and eventually all of the tiles wil have a red x in the upper left corner. Did the same on my lap-top as well as my mobile. Cleared the cache, changed wifi hotspots, no luck. Any suggestons?

Re: Randolph's Leap

Great report Black Panther. I spent a week right there in June, paddling the Findhorn almost every day with Ace Adventures, a rafting outfitter just down the road. This is the way to see the river and have some adventure: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg184/rvrscum/P6151061.jpg Here's the Logie...

Sgurr Alasdair

This Friday was to be our last full day on Skye. The weather looked promising in Sleat: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg184/rvrscum/P6241482.jpg A walk in the Cuillins was decided upon, and Coire Lagan was the chosen place. I was going to push on to Sgurr Alasdair, and my friends were going to ...

Re: Beinn Sgritheall from the sea

Thanks all. I really didn't mind the clag coming in at the last, the trip was so much fun, and what a work out. The paddle back was the best part really, with ever changing light and clouds, plus knowing that I would soon have some pints. During the return when we were in the Sound of Sleat there wa...

Re: A few walks around Skye

Thanks all for the compliments. Skye is a photographers dream, with constant weather and light changes. The same shot will look different in a few minutes. After this trip, I realize that I need to get a real camera with a good lens. But the little Olympus I have is waterproof, so it works for kayak...

Re: Into the Cairngorms...

Good stuff rvrscum, that's one big walk you managed there, and well worth it to take in some of the finest parts of the Cairngorms. You're fairly getting around on this trip to Scotland  Over in the states at the moment myself, no big adventure plans but we did go to Skyline Drive and took...

Beinn Sgritheall from the sea

our_route.gpx One of the many activities to do on Skye is sea-kayaking. On my previous visit in 2009, I had spent a day paddling with Skyak Adventures, a local, Skye-based outfitter. This was my first experience sea kayaking, and I found it to be very fun and different than my typical beat of white...

Bla Bheinn

Had a clear day to go for a walk, and Blaven was chosen as the objective. So far, so good: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg184/rvrscum/P6211274.jpg Headed up Coire Uaigneich: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg184/rvrscum/P6211278.jpg The views were still good so far: http://i248.photobucket....

Re: Conachair, the hill at the edge of the world

Great report. I linked up with Gordon & Morag the following week, and I'll post the trip TR later. They were still ecstatic about the St. Kilda cruise and I'm looking forward to adding the new DVD to my collection.

Re: A week along the Rivers Divie, Findhorn, and Moriston

Whitewater boating is a great way to spend time outside. You can pick your battles so to speak, with higher classes of rapids demanding more skills. Like navigation skills with a map and compass on land, with the river its about reading the water, interpreting what's presented, making a decision and...

Re: Ben Nevis & CMD

Crikey that's scary not being able see very well going along that ridge, especially with the strong winds. Great photos despite the weather. Is it just me or is the stone at the top of the CMD summit a giant potato wedge???? Or a tombstone? This was one of my favorite walks of the tri...

Re: Into the Cairngorms...

Great report rvrscum. Some excellent pictures. Thats the most scenic area in the Cairngorms, the rest is just Plateau with rolling hills. You had an excellent day, I take it there was no wind to get such still water on the Loch ? :D (I added Bynackmor to this round when I done it :D ) Mostly light ...

Ben Nevis & CMD

After an excellent day in the Cairngorms, it was off to Ft. William, a hotel, and some take away. I slept in a bit, as I was sore from the previous day. But with the trusty Vitamin I and some strectching, I was ready to go for the days objective, Ben Nevis via the CMD route. I went up the tourist tr...

Re: Into the Cairngorms...

Thanks all. I had a pretty ambitious agenda, and the combination of an early start and good weather made me just go for it. I haven't moved that hard and fast since I was in the military.
