Re: Your first solo wild camp experience

Where was it? - Just down from Meikle Pap on the approach to Lochnagar. I wrote up a walk report about it: http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5568 Drove down from Inverness and set off about 8pm for a ~2hr walk in. As it was my first solo wildcamp I chose a route which coul...

Online shopping - delivery charge chancers

Been a bit miffed by what I'd class as unreasonably steep delivery charges recently - they're one of the best adverts for supporting your local shops! (Other good reasons include Harry the cocker spaniel in Macpherson's in Inverness - always makes it worth stopping in for a browse...) Tempted by a d...

Re: Wildcamp @ Glen Muick - Lochnagar.

I did these 5 and wildcamped a couple of years ago. Drove down from Inverness after work, left the car park at about 8 and walked in with the tent. Camped at the bealach just by meikle pap. There's a spring just down a wee bit to refill water bottles. Did the 5 the next day and back in ballater for ...

Found - Ice Axe

I found an ice axe left by a cairn on Carn Ghluasaid last week (1st March), if you think it's yours, let me know details and I can return it.

Anyone got any ideas where else to post this? Clean suggestions only... :? where would you look for lost & found stuff?

Re: Across the Monadhliath by bike: Carn na Saobhaidhe

Hi malky, that's a brillirant route and some great photos, I hadn't thought to explore down that way by bike but Strathdearn looks great for riding down. I agree about the area between Strathnairn and Loch Ness, great scenery and a good mix of hills and flat bits to recover on! I finally dug the bik...

Re: First wild camp by Lochnagar

Nice report Andy. An enjoyable read. Interesting choice for a wild camp. I think the walk out is a long bugger, although very scenic, no matter which way you went, high or low. :D Agreed Monty, the walk out is a bugger... I didn't mind it too much as the walk in from the night before was long forgo...

Re: First wild camp by Lochnagar

Thanks Scotjamie! It's a Wild Country Duolite... it's about 2.4 kg I think, so not the lightest but not bad for a 2 man tent. I'm about 5'9" and I can sit up ok at the top end tho it's a bit of a squeeze for 2. As it was just me plenty of room for me and my stuff, if I was with anyone else I th...

First wild camp by Lochnagar

Quick scene setter... A good friend from uni was getting married at Mar Lodge (amazing venue, can't believe it's available to rent out!) and as I'd so far neglected the hills down that neck of the woods, thought I'd take a day off work the day before the wedding to nip up some hills... the plot thic...

Sun and Snow on the South Glen Shiel Ridge

With the daylight hours getting longer and longer, we decided it was finally time for a long walk, nice big epic 25km+... but where to go? Having passed through Kintail repeatedly in the last month or two, the South Glen Shiel ridge jumped to mind and so we found ourselves setting off at 6.45 from I...

Re: Slioch.......a REAL MIXED WEATHER SUNDAY

Doogz - meant to say, love that first pic of Beinn Eighe, and likewise, it's on the list to go back to on a clear day!

IainG - I see what you mean, hardly worth the bother...
