Ciste Dhubh 100th Munro

I was looking for an interesting hill to make my 100th munro. At this time of year it had to be fairly short, to be completed in daylight. I selected Ciste Dhubh having seen it when I climbed A'Chralaig and Mullach Fraoch-choire a few weeks ago. It looked to have the right ingredients, fairly short ...

Re: Piles of Stones

I have never got upset by a wee pile of stones. I have real life "things" to worry about. Ruining a landscape, really a wee pile of stones. Do you actually have to find the correct angle and position for them to ruin the landscape. Walk past them a couple of steps or rotate a couple of deg...

Walking in a cloud

Not been posting for a while, after a change of work pattern in 2015 scuppered any chances of getting on the hills. However have got back on them this year and decided to do a round of Loch Muick taking in the 5 muros. Drove down Tuesday night and parked up in the campervan in Glen Muick about 19:00...

Re: Beware of the Bog!

Yep, that's exactly how I remember it. As you say it is pretty boggy.

Re: Average speed cameras on the A9

Initially I think this will cause an increase in fatalities on the road, as people, stuck behind the ever lengthening queue of 40 MPH traffic become more desperate to get past, will take bigger and more risks to get past. This will no doubt be compounded by the installation of GATSO's at every dual ...

Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a'Chaorachain

With the weather looking good once again I headed over to Craig to try and get another couple of Munros in my bag. Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a Chaorachain were the targets I was aiming for. The walk along the landrover track to the bridge crossing is easy enough and lets you get warmed up before the...

Sgorr Ruadh

Haven't been out on the hills for a while, in fact, looking at my hill log, it was October 22 last year when I was last out. With the forecast looking good for Tuesday I got up nice and early to what looked like a promising day. I drove over to Achnashellach to find 5 other cars already parked up, w...

Re: The mad way up Ben Nevis, CMD and Aonachs

Great stuff there. Walking in the dark, still to do that, but hopefully I'll try it on something a bit easier first.
The arete looks very exposed from the picture, how wide is it?

Am Faochagach

Started from the A835 and crossed the flat bog to the Allt a' Gharbhrain. Beinn Dearg from the A835.JPG This was easy to cross as it was very low, there were several routes across on stepping stones. Crossed some flat bog and then picked up the Allt nah-Uidhe which I followed as I headed towards the...

My 25th Munro Beinn Liath Mhor (the hard way)

Had a trip over to Achnashellach to try and get my 25th Munro. I was actually hoping to get 2 in the day Beinn Liath Mhor and Sgorr Ruadh, but as things turned out it didn’t quite work out that way. Set off from Achnashellach and soon ran into some forestry work, which had closed a section of trail ...

Beinn Eighe

Just a quick report on my first walk on Beinn Eighe. Arrived at the car park at 10:00 at it was busy, looked like Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday afternoon. I was on my way quickly and headed up the path towards Coire Dubh Mor. I was looking forward to being on Beinn Eighe for the first time having...

Re: Fionn Bheinn - NOT a pointless hill!!!

I can heartily recommend your return route as a bog free way to tackle the hill, it's the way I went up and down it. Unfortunately I had one of those days that meant the views were not there and it became a ticking off exercise. Having seen your pictures I'll return on agood day to get those views. ...
