Sycamore Gap tree destroyed

Just across the border, the famous tree at Sycamore Gap has been felled, apparently as an act of vandalism.

One of the most iconic sights anywhere along Hadrian's Wall. Awful :(

Re: Scottish Big Five

I think the Big 5 are well chosen. The Big 5 is intended to be achievable for the masses. Not many people climb remote hills or Munros, which is where you're more likely to see something like a ptarmigan / mountain hare. They also need to reasonably common / easy to spot so that one-time holidaymake...

Re: Sgurr na Banachdich - first time on the Cuillin Ridge

Glad it was helpful, @007iron! No, I don't think descending via Sgurr nan Gobhar would add much extra time.

As for difficulty a lot will depend on whether the rock is wet, or if it's very windy. So - I hope you get a good day for it!

Re: Name that Corrie!

This one should be captioned: "Chance of cloud free Munros: almost certain"
What's the name of the coire immediately below and to the right of me in this photo?

Re: Sunny days

I've currently got my eye on the southeast for Saturday, if the wet weather moves north quickly enough on Friday night. Cheviots / Moffat Hills could be worth a look. Plenty of time for that to change obviously.

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Is it Goatfell? The path in the coire in the foreground looks like the one up from (er) Corrie.

Great work, and yes, if you'd done it pre-Covid it might've become quite popular! :)
