Re: Sore legs ??

If I know I'm in for a full day of walking, I go ahead and take 800mg of ibuprofen before I even set out. And as Caberfeidh said, a warm bath afterward does wonders for easing muscle soreness, especially if you can get into one sooner rather than later (not always possible with the more remote hills...

Rob Roy Way, Drymen to Kenmore

I'm living in America again, but I recently came back to Scotland for a walking holiday. The Rob Roy Way seemed like a good choice - more challenging than the Great Glen Way, but still with manageable daily distances. After more than two years of living the typical sedentary American lifestyle again...

Re: Great Glen Way, Fort William to Drumnadrochit

I'm definitely going to try the "thin socks inside thick socks" idea next time. Also, taking along a set of trainers. A spare, lighter set of footwear was the only thing I regretted not taking on this hike, because it meant that if I wanted to walk somewhere in the evening after getting to...

Ride to Loch Lomond wanted

If anyone from Edinburgh or Glasgow is planning to drive to (ideally) Rowardennan or (workably) Tarbet anytime soon, please let me know. Ben Lomond got the better of me back in May, and I'm itching to get back there and show it who's boss.

Will gladly split petrol costs.

Re: Bum Slides and Golden Eagles at the Quiraing

I'm convinced that it is impossible to visit Skye without getting muddy. Last Hogmanay, I was coming down a slope in the Faerie Glen, and I slipped in mud, fell flat on my back, and then slid at least 10 meters down the hill. The only reason I didn't slide further is that I managed to catch hold of ...

Re: Lothian Coast

I really want to try this walk now! I've always loved coastal walking, and haven't had a chance to do any in ages. Easily accessible from Edinburgh, too!

Great Glen Way, Fort William to Drumnadrochit

I've wanted to have a stab at one of Scotland's long-distance routes for ages. I decided on the Great Glen Way, because it seemed like a straightforward and relatively easy one to do, that I could manage solo. So I took the train to Fort William on 13 September and began walking the next day. The jo...

Re: Women's outdoor clothing rant

Trousers - again, do I live in a country of dwarves??? Despite being over 170 cm tall, I'm size 8-10 (depending on the season, I usually put on a bit of weight in winter). Try finding size 10 girl trousers that are actually LONG ENOUGH for a five-nine woman! I have to buy the smallest available man...

Re: Great Glen Way August 2012

Thanks for posting the vids! This is a walk I want to do in the very near future, and it's great to have these kinds of visuals. Gives me a better idea of what it's actually going to look like.
