Re: Dalwhinnie Level Crossing - Network Rail piece, May 2022
Your help is needed! If you want to help with getting evidence together on it being a Public Right of Way, you can submit a questionnaire - and either a gpx file or a map with the route drawn on - to Scotways, who have evidence of it being used historically as a right of way but need evidence for th...

Re: Where is my position on map?
It's the same. At some point you or your phone have disabled the permission, probably by accident. Try looking at 'Site settings' in your browser settings, then click 'Location'.
You need to have enabled Walkhighlands.co.uk to see your location in order for it to be shown.

Re: Hill of Fare access from Raemoir
This is really disappointing to hear. Originally the hotel owner wanted us to tell people to park at the hotel, which was the case for years. Later we were asked to change things to bar this when it became an exclusive use venue. We've also made several changes to the route on their later requests a...

Re: Where is my position on map?
There isn't a Walkhighlands app so maybe you mean another app? If you mean the maps on the website, they will show your position if your phone permissions allow it - so it depends how you set your permissions. We wouldn't recommend using website maps for navigation though - except in more urban area...

Re: Falls of Glomach from Glen Elchaig - start point query
We used to have it from Camas-luinie which was shorter as you say but also wetter / rougher, so I decided to swap things to use the great track. Both do work!

Re: BB Code error when posting images
Apologies - we had an attack on the website over Thursday / early Friday, and as part of stopping this I'd stopped links in posts. so it wasn't allowing the URL tags. It's fixed now.
This wasn't intended (I also banned myself but we'll gloss over that!)

Re: Finger wagging bothy puritan
Presuming this is aimed at our bothy article from a few years back? The phrase "camping without a tent" and of course the bothy code itself come from the Mountain Bothy Association itself. Walkhighlands' isn't involved in the writing of the bothy code, which as it stands doesn't state you ...

Re: Blocked route
Thanks for this. If you'd be willing to report the barbed wire fence (there was previously a stile as noted in the text) to the council, it may help with getting a stile reinstated as they may give more priority to more reports. The relevant details are here: https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/access-team

Re: Using an ice axe when there's no ice
Mick Fowler used ice axes and crampons to climb the chalk of the Dover cliffs*.

Re: Walk details
Go to the "walks" menu, choose your area and you'll get to a list of walks there to choose from. Or you can you a search of all walks (also on the "walks" menu).

Re: Cross Borders Drove Road
When originally devised this was a network of routes rather than a single line and so wasn't suitable in itself. However it does now look like it's been defined as a single route. Much of it is on Walkhighlands as part of other routes - for example, the section north of Peebles seems the same as the...

Hebridean Way
For the benefit of those who don't follow us on social media, I thought I'd put up a post here to say we've now added the Hebridean Way to Walkhighlands. We're delighted to launch our new guide to the Hebridean Way, the unique 253km walking route which begins on the island of Vatersay, and visits Ba...

Re: Access at Carraig caravan site, Ardnamurchan
We did use to take the line marked in red to where it says NTL, but amended after the barrier went up.
I did find you could squeeze under the fence but doing so may be too undignified for others
