Re: Does a GPS tracklog need a phone signal to show?

If you have downloaded the file to your phone via Wi-Fi or phone data, you don't need a phone signal for the app to work. I use my phone in airplane mode when out in the hills and the GPS records my every step.
Hope this answers your question if I read it correctly.

Jet at summit
I'm a bit biased, but my Jet is a border collie Labrador cross . At about 23 kg can be lifted over fences. We go off for weeks holidays which is always hill walking.
Today it was Carn a Chlamain.
Beinn a Ghlo beckons next couple of days.

Re: John o'Groats Trail from Tain to John o'Groats

Glad you enjoyed the trail and you found the locals were most helpful. More and more Europeans are now discovering this bit of the Highlands.
A quieter walk than some more crowded trails.

Re: Bear with me no more. R.I.P.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Remember Bear well was it at Torridon or Gairloch YH with my Jet. Take comfort of all the happy times and adventures you both had together. Memories never go away.

Re: New bridge at Ousdale burn

Sgurr, thanks for comments but Strathan bridge is on opposite side of country to where we are. We only do work on the east coast linking our trail from Inverness to John O'Groats.

Think no one owns up to the Strathan bridge for insurance purposes possibly.

New bridge at Ousdale burn

A team of volunteers built a new bridge yesterday to cross the Ousdale burn which is on the new Inverness to John O'Groats coastal hiking trail. This is the biggest bridge we have constructed so far. Many walkers from across UK are looking forward to using this bridge in near future. 29354557_107102...

John O'Groats trail

For information about the John O'Groats trail see below. In near future there will be a guide book and a Harvey's map available. If you've done other trails why not try this one. Re: Old Wick

A great walk and now part of the new Inverness to John O' Groats hiking trail. Great views around and a fascinating insight to the herring industry that made Wick great.

Re: The John o' Groats Trail

Hi ranklb viewtopic.php?f=25&t=71966 A link to a couple who did this in 9 days recently. Lots of info about current state of trail. The trail is still a work in progress and in a lot of places there's no proper track. However from Inverness north the walking will be easier and possibly you could...
