Re: MWIS

Was up Sgur Choinnich Mor last weekend and although patches of snow, nothing extensive and no need for crampons etc. Ben Nevis and CMD which I could see from the summit still seemed to have enough to warrant snow gear. I am really hoping that we have a heat wave soon and get rid of some as I plan do...

Re: Cmd arete.

CMD and Ben.jpg Was just about to post the exact same thing! I was up Sgur Choinnich Mor at the weekend past and noticed still quite a bit of snow on CMD. I plan to tackle CMD and Ben as my #99 and #100 on the 12th May. I too have no experience of crampons and ice axe use and would be unwise to use...

Re: bellyful of Lairig Ghru wind and a change of heart

I know. I actually checked your posts only to find nothing since 2009. Looks like we've missed a lot! It'd be a vast project though, 80-plus munros... Take your time but prioritize the Braeriach one pls  Yup, lots happened since then, my son and got back into music production so my spare time ...

Re: bellyful of Lairig Ghru wind and a change of heart

Congrat on your successful summit amid strong wind! I feel both relieved and envious in that someone had similar experience but it was also totally different since you made the summit and you did it alone. I can clearly recall how other parts in sight were sunny at least for a moment but Braeriach ...

Re: bellyful of Lairig Ghru wind and a change of heart

I can vouch for how dangerous Braeriach and indeed the whole of the Cairngorms was this weekend. I climbed Braeriach alone on Saturday and almost came a cropper a few times due to some of the worst wind I have ever experienced. What made it worse was the relentlessness of it. I was battered for a go...

Re: Thinking about buying a gps unit ??????

I've got the Garmin e-Trex which has stood me in good stead and still does. However, as far as I am aware you cannot transfer GPS routes to this unit you have to key them in by hand which some may see as a chore but I actually enjoy plotting the points on my map and then inputting them to my e-trex ...

Re: Rain forecast this weekend - bloomin' typical!

Well, I did get out - all on my tod. Bro-in-law said he needed new boots and couldn't afford them. Oh well, very overcast with zero views from either summit but at least that is another two bagged. I'm still not up to my pre-fatherhood-fitness levels and I found this quite demanding. Steep up, very ...

Re: Guided Inn Pinn climbing partner wanted, summer, flex. d

What a fabulous idea! I'm not ready for the I.P. yet but it's obviously part of my plans. As a mostly solo walker I priced a guide for 5 days (to bag all Skye munro's) at around £500 I think it was. Might try this idea when my time comes in order to keep costs down. Nice one, and good luck - make su...

Re: Rain forecast this weekend - bloomin' typical!

Och I do it all the time and the doing it is never as bad as the thought of it.. It will be fine :D True :D For secluded a great camping spot at Fedden ruins but a bit of a walk in. Nearby I would recommend the campsite in Roy bridge (bunroy). Couple of pubs which is a good poor weather activity :D...

Re: Rain forecast this weekend - bloomin' typical!

For months I have been planning a weekend to remember, and I can tell already it will be one to forget! I work weekends so had to book this off as a holiday. Plus, with the bro-in-law here on his hols it has to be done this week if we want to bag another couple. I am dreading setting this tent up in...

Reasonable :D Will keep it in mind, cheers. Originally wanted to camp at Glen Etive but that's over an hours drive from Invergarry, mind you if we finish the hills early enough will prob head to original plan - keeping an eye on weather that is!

Re: Rain forecast this weekend - bloomin' typical!

The site to the west of Invergarry is Faichemard Farm Campsite. We stayed there a few weeks ago and were quite impressed. Its a small site with good pitches and facilities. Also very quiet and peaceful since its an adults only site :D Cheers for the response. Was looking for something more secluded...

Rain forecast this weekend - bloomin' typical!

Brother-in-law up this week on holiday, 4 Mamores planned, camping planned, GPS co-ordinates input (took a while as I have the old e-trex), supplies bought then BAM! Turn on the TV this morning and rain is forecast throughout the whole of the UK on saturday. Don't want to waste the Mam's on such a '...
