Re: Cameron's Viewpoint: The Wind Compromise

Just to pick up on Morag1's final comment - as someone who lives in East Lothian we have a plethora of wind farms in the wonderful Lammermuirs and active campaign groups opposing further development - see the link below. Come and have a look and decide for yourself whether enough is enough. http://w...

Re: Insoles

I've had fitted orthotics made for around 12 years and wear them with all running and work shoes as well as walking boots. I did go and see a podiatrist at that time and discovered the reason for pain in feet was Morton's Neuroma - combination of wider fitting shoes and orthotics solved the problem ...

Re: Sunshine meanders - Teix and the Archduke's path, Mallor

Great report - the photo of the start/end of the walk would have been handy as we faffed around for ages with numerous other walkers trying to figure the way in. Compared to the open access we have in Scotland Mallorca's fences and keep out signs seem positively fudal. This walk was better than most...

Re: Mallorca Sun, Sea and the Smell of Dead Goat

Thanks malky_c I've just read your great repor. You made good time - the last trek zig zagging down the cliffs to Deia was a slow and cautious descent and the circuit taking in Teix would be my preferred option if we do this again.

Mallorca Sun, Sea and the Smell of Dead Goat

Deia is a magnificant mountain village on the west coast of Mallorca and was our base for a week's villa holiday over Easter. I would imagine that Deia and the surrounding villages get very busy in the high season. April was an ideal time to visit and take in some walks between Valldemossa, Deia and...

Re: Ben Vane

Photography tip: Always check your ISO settings. 400 for every shot.

I can beat that - recently spent a week post processing to fix noise only to discover I had somehow set the camera at iso 3200. :?

Ben Vane - high on the must do list for July.

Re: Sgor Gaoith

Nice report which brought back happy memories. I climbed Sgor Gaoith on a Glenmore Lodge course a couple of years ago. We went over the ridge at the cairn at ate lunch out of the wind. As you note the views down to the Loch are truly breathtaking.... my photos and the recent piece on the Adventure S...

Re: Traprain law and North-Berick law

NIce report. The family go up North Berwick Law most New Years Day but I've never been up Tarprain. Must put that to rights this summer.

Re: Glenshee Three - Expectations Exceeded

You are right - I didn't continue on to Carn Bhinnein which was remiss of me given the weather - next time I guess.

Glenshee Three - Expectations Exceeded

Stressed out at work and having got to the middle of May without augmenting to my Munro list I decided that I needed to get out come hell or high water. I'd planned to head West but the weather forecast suggested further East offered the best chance of keeping the waterproofs in the rucksack. Select...

Re: Pentland Hills

Thanks. Your report inspired me to get out today; my only day off this week and I hadn't tackled the Pentlands fromThreipmuir Reservoir. Real pea-souper all morning. Dog and I did the Kips and Scald Law before beating a retreat to the car via Hare Hill. Met 10 folks max..nice to see the paths so qui...

Re: Post your best photo

The ND filter is really cool, these were shot on 6-8 second exposures in broad daylight. The filter is so dark that it allows me to stop down the exposure way beyond normal to make some neat water effects. Can't wait to put this to use back in Scotland. You have to read at this months Digital Photo...
