Re: Dog Jackets.

Hi, I'd recommended this dog jacket if your dog has a thick coat and doesn't need extra insulation: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dog_clothing/waterproof/274366 Lightweight, waterproof and covers most of the bits that get muddy! Also stays in place well with plenty of room for active pooches :)

Re: Sun, sweat, pain and Buidhe Bheinn

Stunning photos BP and what a detailed report! I'm rubbish at identifying hills from other hills. Well done!

Re: No Wrath, just joy in the Cape

Lovely :D Looks like I just missed the good weather when I was up that way last week. Didn't quite make it to Durness but definitely on the list for another time.

Re: Two new ticks at last! And not the blood sucking kind :)

Nice one, loved the title, especially after all the horror stories re the other 'ticks'  Some great photo's, good luck with the next few ticks  Thanks Fife Flyer. Tempting fate, but no other 'ticks' for me or, surprisingly, Corrie dog this year. We must be too sweet smelling ...

Re: Two new ticks at last! And not the blood sucking kind :)

Good stuff, mm. There's nowhere quite like the far north. I stayed at the Altnaharra b and b to do both these hills, a great little place with real character. Coincidentally, it was Mandy at that b and b who made me wary of the wrong type of ticks. I bet you found your trip up there very worthwhile...

Two new ticks at last! And not the blood sucking kind :)

After several years in the PhD wilderness, it was time, at last, for normal mountain service to be resumed. Unfortunately, sitting in front of a computer all day does not a fit person make. So, after a jaunt in the Ochils that confirmed the old legs were not up to much, a sensible, albeit last minut...

Re: Mera Peak Nepal April 2014

Hi Bex I've done a fair bit of high altitude trekking/climbing, including 6000m peaks, and have never worn plastic boots. Not a fan of them though they are certainly warmer and essential if you go much higher. I did progress to using yeti gaiters at one point which provide extra insulation though th...

Re: Mera Peak Nepal April 2014

Not sure what it says on JG kit list but I didn't take a huge amount of kit aside from ice axe, crampons, helmet, harness, a decent down sleeping bag, thermarest and my trusty Sportiva Nepal Extremes. Oh and toasty gloves! We climbed in late December/early January so temperature at high camp was a t...

Re: Mera Peak Nepal April 2014

Hi Steve, I climbed Mera Peak in 2000 (on the summit to see the sunrise on the new millennium :D). Fantastic trip. Love Nepal and have been back several times since. I did the Mera Peak trip with KE Adventure Travel who I'd highly recommend although Jagged Globe are good too - did a climbing trip to...
