Pine Martin in Glen Massan + fungus identification please

Taking advantage of the weather I went for a walk along Glen Massan this morning, half way between the little car parking area and the farm at Stonefield I saw a pine martin run across the path. My camera was in my back pack but even if it was in my hand it was too quick to take a photo. I've walked...

Bird identification please

e-bay 578-2.jpg
Hi All This photo was taken in Sharm el Sheikh last year. It wasn't put off by our presence and continued hunting around the hotel gardens. It was very small so I thought it might have been a sparrow hawk. Any ideas?

Re: Car Parking In Portree

Hi Caberfeidh,
Thanks for that bit of information, I've just recieved an e-mail from Torvaig campsite they've said I can park my car there free as I will be using that site at least three times over the seven or so days we are on Skye.
Cheers, John.

Car Parking In Portree

Hi All, Two of us are planning to walk the Skye Trail in early June (6th - 14th) and I need to find a secure car parking space in or around Portree for about seven days. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd be quite happy to pay a reasonable fee for somewhere safe and secure. Thanks, John.

Re: Glen Shiel North Ridge (12 Munro extravaganza) Part 2

Hi, A great report, I really enjoyed it along with your great photographs. Your last photo is of the shrub Broom, often just yellow and usually found beside Gorse. I'm looking forward to you Skye report.

Can anyone identify this moth?

I found this moth in the entrance to our flat! It's well camouflaged for the woods but not for the windowsill

Re: Our Cold Blooded Friends...

Hi, We saw Slow Worms on Loch Lomondside, lying on the WHW path just north of Cashel Farm in the Rowendennan Forest. The next day we saw two together, about two miles north of the hotel at Inversnaid, again they were lying on the WHW path. This was late May two years ago, the weather was warm and dr...

A Swarm of Beetles

DSCN7041-001.JPG Last weekend we were in Glen Massen having a picnic and enjoying the sun when all of a sudden we were invaded by hundreds of these flying beetles. There was a little breeze and within an hour or two they were all gone. I have seached the net and found they are a type of "Longh...
