I didn't realise you could - it looks like it's gated off from that end? I'll have to check it out - Streetview stops at the gate and shows it closed, but with a sign for parking: http://goo.gl/maps/rNU5x Can you just open it? I'll fire off an email to the Youth Centre there to find out if need be....

I've got about 204 more to do before I start on the outlying fells, but thanks for the tips. Binsey sounds straightforward, that ones bookmarked. High Rigg looks ideal, I'm just trying to work out the easiest route/parking etc. Anyone know if I'd get away with parking here? From there it looks like...

I was on Gable as well having walked up from Brackenclose via Sty Head and returned on the old pony track. The complete silence is always very moving.

I assume the distant feature is the tower just above the signpost.
