Re: Newbie with sore legs and feet

I do have a sedentry job but cycle commute and I've come from a cycling endurance background - more recently audaxing. I suppose I've got used to tired legs and then get up the following morning to do similar mileage again without thinking about it too much. I suppose this has set in some laziness r...

Re: Newbie with sore legs and feet

Thanks again for all the replies. I've definitely taken on board the need for stretching. I've found out that getting to the finish of your walk isn't necessarily the finish as time should be taken for post-walk care. In starting to climb Munros I'm also recognising there's a 'steep' learning...

Re: Newbie with sore legs and feet

Hi JohnSound - thanks and yes I used poles and I really appreciated them ascending Ben Vane from Beinn Ime as I followed my own route up. I appreciate the poles descending too.

Re: Newbie with sore legs and feet

Hi - and thank you all for your replies which are appreciated. I'm sure I'm suffering from DOMS and will look into this more as my muscles are very sensitive to touch just now. I suppose I'm in the transition of my mind is willing but my legs need to catch up. As I've been reminded both hydration an...

Newbie with sore legs and feet

Hi - I've now done 9 Munros since July with the the last 3 being done on Sunday - Beinn Narnairn, Beinn Ime and Ben Vane. I'm still struggling with really (really really) sore legs for at least a couple of days afterwards (not just tired) meaning that trying to walk down stairs is a real struggle (e...

Re: Walking Etiquette

Thank you Marty_JG and AHillTooFar for your replies as they have been very helpful. I think I've maybe overthought this as I did the exact same following a GPS route that took me off where others had treaded before (not an actual path) so I went across land to try and get back onto the GPS route. I'...

Walking Etiquette

Hi - just wondering what the walking etiquette is when there are less established paths with some seeming to disappear as was my experience when walking up to the start of the ascent of Carn Dearg especially and then Carn Sgulain and A'Chailleach yesterday. I want to minimise the impact of my walkin...
