Re: Mistakes Made and Lessons Learned - A Cautionary Tale

We have all been in situations where we have to make a decision. Like you, I do most of my walks solo and can't blame anyone else as I don't even have a dog. I even managed to come off a ridge in the wrong direction and lose 200m of height before I noticed! That was the last day I didn't carry my ma...

Re: The Scottish mountains really must do better.....

As a young lance corporal in the Army in the mid 80s I remember being asked as I stood outside Edinburgh Castle why we build the castle so far from the airport, why it was build on the top of a hill and why there was no water in the dry moat. And that was the days before interweb. Happy days

Welcome to the site and enjoy Norman's Law. A great wee hill to add to the collection. Good luck and keep safe.

Re: Knne Injuries

Sounds like a good target 8 weeks. That will be two weeks on Wednesday and I got the stitches out today. Can walk without much of a limp so progress is quick so far. My plan was to be back on the hills by July. Think I will be easily up before then.

Re: Knne Injuries

Out of the hospital after a mosaicplasty and a general tidy up. Manage to put weight on it pretty quickly but Mrs T is making sure I sit with my leg up and doing my exercises.

Got a target of July to be back in the hills to add to my very slowly increasing munro count.

Re: Culinary Camping Creations

I don't get my army rations from a shop

You don't do as long as I did in the mob without making some contacts and calling in the odd favour here and there

Can't get to the next meet but I could see what I can do at the summer meet and try and bring some along for folk to try.

Re: Culinary Camping Creations

Army rations every time :D

Gone are the days of bullied beef and processed cheese that fife flier remembers.

It's all top notch in the modern army and I can occasionally get my hands on it

Re: SPRING WH GAIRLOCH SANDS HOSTEL MEET 8/9TH APRIL 2016

All Fiona and I are out :( Got my date for my operation and it is the 23rd March and I will not be able to put any weight on my foot for up to 6 weeks! If I delay it will impact on the summer holidays and the gaffer would not allow that! We had a wigwam booked for the Thursday, Friday ...

Re: A stroll in the snow in Fife

Martin, I was up in craigmead car park a few weeks ago and a robin was virtually eating out of my hand. Same one maybe?? It certainly was tame

Re: Benarty - Late afternoon walk

Yeah it's DEFINITELY a winter hill especially the path that runs through the Forrest. Very boggy.

Nice views on a clear winters day

Re: Benarty - Late afternoon walk

Well done and a great wee hill. I can see it from my kitchen window. You should have waved lol

Try the Loch Glow area for another local walk at this time of year. It can be boggy in the spring so best doing it in winter.
