Re: Macdui and Cairn Gorm in autumnal splendour

I was up Cairn Gorm and Ben Macdui today. We walk the same route but opposite way round, we must have crossed paths at some point.

Bird Identification

Any ideas? A fairly big size for a chick about the size of 2 clenched adult fists.

Re: Braeriach & Cairn Toul Traverse and A Series of Mishaps

A fantastic walk, especially in 1 day well done.

I'm planning on doing this one this year, looking at doing the opposite route round, the climbing 1st at Braeriach and walk out through the Lairig Ghru. The boulder fields look testing though!

Re: Midges in Glen Coe and Glen Nevis

I walked through Glen Nevis approaching Aonoch Beag last Tuesday (4th June).

I never seen any midgies although wondered how long away they would be emerging from the boggy areas I was walking over.

I can easily believe now as I post this they will be swarming the route I was on.

P.s I think you're doing yourself down - i'm pretty sure you walked more than 6k

Ah well spotted, 16k not 6

The ring is on my list to do, looks to be a good challenge.

Aonach Beag & Aonach Mor

Overlooking the mountain forecast, the west was the most promising for the day. I was all set for visiting the Nevis range to tackle the Aonachs. An early start, I left home at 4am heading for Glen Nevis arriving at 6. Feeling happy about myself to get in the car park before the crowds, there was on...
