Re: Galloway Hills – Awful hands, grey faces, and a frozen t

Just read a couple of your reports, Gareth, and I have to say the photography is outstanding - and very inspiring! Well done indeed. I'm at Cluanie Inn just now, but it's storm-force winds and low cloud all the way at the moment... Thanks very much! Sounds pretty rough, hope the weather impr...

That's very kind of you to say. I was quite pleased with how a few of them turned out. I got lucky with the weather though, it was hard not to take a good picture with light and clouds like that.

Galloway Hills – Awful hands, grey faces, and a frozen tent

I had one more agreed camping trip this year. As the weeks were ticking by, with lots of wind and rain, I was getting less picky about the weather. Then finally, in early November, a brilliant forecast for all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Since I’d been to the northwest three times already this ...

A couple of nights Kintail camping

Finally some settled weather and I had my eye on a big walk in Kintail area. The original plan included finishing on Sàileag and the Five Sisters. But, once I'd been walking for a while, it dawned on me that this was probably too much climbing. So, I decided to cut out the end bit and replace it wit...

Torridon and Applecross

I was indecisive this weekend. Driving north my plans kept changing, as I considered the merits of the various routes I had in mind in the Torridon area. The early morning weather was so good I changed my plans completely and decided I’d start with Bienn Eighe. I normally try to avoid busy places, b...

Beinn Uidhe is unremittingly stony, you need to be in the right sort of mood to enjoy it.

Thanks very much. I was in a lazy sort of mood so I was fairly happy to miss it out

Re: The Long Way Round – Glas Bheinn (feat. Quinag)

Great stuff! I was on Glas Bheinn the same day Thanks! It was a very good day to be up there It is a superb area though. P.S. I think your unidentified hill is Ben Loyal. Ahhh thanks, I was trying to work it out looking at maps afterwards. Didn't think I had a clear line of sight all the way up the...

The Long Way Round – Glas Bheinn (feat. Quinag)

After camping on Cùl Mòr, via Cùl Beag, the previous day, I was keen to do something a bit less strenuous. I opted for a route to Glas Bheinn via Eas a’ Chùal Aluinn. At just over 9 miles it would easily make a day walk, but I was keen to camp on top of Glas Bheinn, so took it very steady. If the on...
