Fun in the snow at Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe
This walk was the culmination of our trip to the Fort William area. We had completed a very enjoyable (and long) walk from from Glenfinnan to Polloch along Loch Shiel the previous day, and decided that, weather permitting, we would try something with a bit of an incline. The sun came out in the morn...

Back in Scotia and up Tinto
The Clan MacT has just returned from a very enjoyable trip to the West of Ireland (perhaps may do a wee report on Connemara at some point in the 'ootwith Scotia' walk reports), so we thought we would ease our way back into the hills with a nice day out at Tinto Hill. We had never walked this hill be...

Ben Venue: a long, wet slog
We set out early for this particular hill. We had booked dinner for 5pm at the Lade Inn and knew that the walk/climb would probably take about 4-6 hours. As another poster had said that there was a diversion in place, we legislated for the top end of the 4-6 hour time period. We actually ended up co...

I could have done with a wee lift on the way down.

Re: Ben Ledi (back to front)
Congrats to MacT Og on your first corbett (and of course to Mummy and Daddy!)   Thank you. For various reasons (work/life etc), it's been a few years years since I last climbed a hill of any note in Scotland. Was great fun, though - despite the clag (although even this added a bi...

Ben Ledi (back to front)
DSCN0868.JPG At 11am, we decided to simply walk the Stank Glen route, but the idea of climbing Ben Ledi was always at the back of our minds. DSCN0862.JPG We made pretty good time to the halfway point of the Stank Glen circuit, and MacT Og (our nursery-school mountaineer) was in such fine form (&quo...

Thanks, he loved it. I am glad to say that I think that he's caught the bug.

'S Airde Beinn
This was our last walk on Mull before our descent back into the Lowlands. The weather, which was a little overcast in the morning when we started (10am-ish), cleared over the course of the morning and into the afternoon. Visibility was excellent all day. We parked about 100 metres from the abandoned...

Re: Shiaba and Traigh Ban from Skoor
The small house in the first photograph used to belong to Jimmy McKeand of Sgurr. A right character he was, and I stayed in that house a couple of times. He died in 2001 and is buried in the Kilvickeon church, on the road up from Bunessan. Ah, just realised that when you said the first photo, you a...

Shiaba and Traigh Ban from Skoor
DSCN0691.jpg This was our second big walk of our recent trip to Mull (we will upload some photos from the other three later) and it was certainly 3 year-old MacT Og's favourite (for several reasons - all to do with the dead). At about 10am, we started off at Skoor House and made our way up the bank...

Re: Hello
Thanks. It really is quite an impressive website - design of site and the quality of the contributions from individuals (some of the walk reports are quite incredible).

Hello
Thought that it would be a good idea to begin to interact with this site in a less passive way - have been a lurking admirer - now that my family has begun in earnest our (hopefully) long journey into the bracken. It has been a while since I have dusted off the hiking boots. I used to walk quite a b...
