Drnking and Eating on the Great Glen Way

Hi all, A group of us are walking the GGW on May 4th - 10th 2013. Does anyone have places to recommend for drinks and eating. Real ales and good pub grub......Clachaig type of places. Very much appreciated.

Shoes or Boots??????

Walking the WHW next May. Am I better to wear Trail shoes or boots?

I have boots I walk the munros in but would these be too heavy for a hard packed trail route?

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Blisters

How do you get blisters? I have good boots well worn in, good walking socks, and plenty hils and miles clocked up in them. So why when I am 2 days in to a spectacular week for the WHW do I get blisters from toe to heel and loose a toe nail? Painful to say the least but I am very puzzled as I have ne...

Cairnwell Trio

Well to start with who said these are easy? Set off from ski centre about 09:15 set of up Carn Aosda got there in about 40 mins arrgghh that's steep. Face now bright red and sweat stinging my eyes, time to take the fleece off, it's heating up, or maybe it's just me. Turns out to be a great day clear...

Hi Thomas,
I got one last year, so far has been excellent, wore it on Ben Chonzie in January. -22 and was still toasty.
I have since bought a few Keela products and not been disappointed in any of them.

Yep,
that's right. Not long started the munros and really enjoying the challange.
Good way of working off the excess pounds.

Crampons for Mammut scout

I have a pair of Mammut scout, very comfy boot, I have done a few winter walks but would like to get crampons to be a bit safer on my feet. What kind would be suitable for them? and what would the best ice axe be? these would only be used in the scottish hills, might venture to Wales and so on. Any ...

Ben Chonzie

Started and finished an excellent clear day. Views were absoloutly spectacular. Set off about 9:15 and back at the car by 3pm.

Wind picked up at the summit but well worth the huffing & puffing all the way up. :clap:
