I've not experienced the pleasure of a thunderstorm while hill-walking. I imagine it must be quite hair-raising - literally!

What a tremendous report and some of the best photos I've seen of the munros. You are all far braver than me. Some of those scrambly, steep bits gave me vertigo just looking at them on my laptop!

I think I'll stick to the rolling type tundra of the Cairngorms etc!

I did 7 hills on that ridge a few years ago in good conditions and wouldn't have fancied that narrow bit in such poor condidtions either.

A great wee expedition. Yes taking the tent always adds to the sense of adventure. I know how tedious it gets taking continual bearings in the mist at a high level, then looking back on the way out to see the same summits glistening in the late afternoon sun!

I agree that the Cairnwell Hills are a pleasant walk. I'd heard all the negative stories and can agree but as you say, it is easy to ignore and focus on the wonderful views, tranquility and achievement of bagging 3 munros!

I wish I could be as positive as you about getting so wet in those conditions! Good for you though and great report. Just one question, how steep is the steep side of Beinn Iuthern Mhor? I'm not that great with heights believe it or not!
