Re: Ben Aden / Loch Quoich Levels

@Senja, duly noted. I'll be looking for a few high pressure days then head in while dry underfoot. I'm not a swimmer so I do take water crossings seriously. cheers!

Re: Ben Aden / Loch Quoich Levels

@Gigha, yes, many thanks for the timing. I'll probably head up the night before, sleep in car and move first light. @jmarkb, perfect! I'll keep an eye on weather, soon as high pressure for a few days, I'll start thinking about making a move. @Scraggygoat, I agree with lacking imagination. Have done ...

Ben Aden / Loch Quoich Levels

Hi, maybe the more informed can help me here? I'm a summit "hit & runner" so car and back as quick as I can, looking to do Ben Aden in 10-12hrs, when passing through Invergarry. How many dry days are we talking to cross immediately downstream of the remains of the old bridge? Thanks in...

Re: Balquhidder Grahams trio

Many thanks for the Creag Mhòr route. Just did this on Friday, before the flies, clegs , etc. Was heavy showers and wet underfoot. Amazingly, my £35 Mountain Warehouse boots that I don't take to seriously kept my feet dry all the way back to the car. Wish my £130 Berghaus boots could say the same :c...

Re: Mullardoch boat

Did the 12 in a single sitting back in 2017. Took me 22 hrs, car to car. No watering holes, iirc.

Here's the gpx route if anyone wants it.

Re: Looking for recommendations for grippy trail shoes

I bought a pair of Merrell Speed Strike for the 3 seasons. They get wet but also dry quick. Racked up well over 100 Corbetts with them. Very grippy soles although the side mesh has started to give way due to thrashing through the heather. Had Salamon trainers and got 2 year out of them but they took...

Re: Novice friendly winter climbs?

Did the sub2k Earl's Seat today and it was tricky in places with ice. Keep in mind it's easy to head up but not so easy coming back down. As far as weather forecasts go, look for high pressure dominating as the weather is more stable and drier conditions than when it's low pressure which is usually ...

Re: Creag nam Mial, a hill I was dreading, but turned out go

Great route. Did it today in just over 4hr but I wasn't haging about as it was cold. Icy path wasn't as nice as when you've done it but still a fine day out. Thanks for sharing it.

Re: Away to Angus

Thank you for all your trip reports all over the site :) . They've been great in breaking up a cold and dark December and keeping my legs from stiffening up in January. Roll on March and I'll be back on the Corbetts.

Re: South Glenshiel ridge - 2 cars

Get your thumb out. Usually always manage to get a lift back to car as most travelling up / down know you're more than likely a hillwalker.
